Apparently, we've had six successful run chases of 250+ since Stokes became captain.

Yes, I'm aware he's not captain in this test. It was lifted off the BBC app. Blame them!

Can you send me a link where I can see who his scores were against? I don’t see anything of the other guys apart from Jenninhs occasionally. You are probably right that there is no English opener making a case, and I think Crawley is a bigger problem than Duckett tbf. Pope is a problem too. I would personally be thinking about developing Brook or even Stokes to open and getting Bethell into the team. But I take your point maybe these two are as good as it gets. At least they stay fit, unlike most of our fast bowlers (why are Starc Cummins and Hazelwood always fit and ours not?).

All 3 of them have missed years of their career to injury. Cummins went 5 years between his first and second Test. Fast bowling brutalises the body, unless you are lucky to have a silky smooth repeatable action like Anderson and Broad most of them break down at some point.

Keep thinking about 10 run segments. Get the next 10 runs without losing a wicket. Then, get the next 10 runs without losing a wicket. Rinse and repeat.

I missed my calling; I should have been a cricket coach.
Not realy you threw the towel in yesterday ;)

We could just milk the spinners for another 30 runs without taking a risk. Then it really SHOULD be in the bag

Haven’t missed much in recent years, have they?
