This feels really gutting to be honest...

We've won the ODI World Cup, we've won the T20 World Cup and the Ashes Away plus the Test World Championship felt like the final things to tick off.

Things felt promising coming into this series and despite some highs and lows in the Bazball era it's definitely been better than anything in recent times. That first away Pakistan tour being my personal highlight where we managed to get a result from an absolute dead pitch.

The World Test Championship punishes you for slow over rates which is one of the reasons we are never in the running for that. Maybe this is something we can change and set this as our new target?

But the culmination of Bazball, the hopeful crowning glory moment. Was meant to be a good performance away in Australia. And it feels as crushingly one sided as it has done in the last 15 years.

It's all the media hype leading up to this Ashes that England had a very good chance of winning them back
But talk is cheap ? The truth is a very weakened Aussie squad of ageing players are still miles better than england.

It's too late to change this Bazball cricket now and the damage is done, it may take 10 years to repair and build a new england setup and teach proper cricket skills to players,

One thing that has to happen is straight away is to sack the whole coaching outfit, including Brendon McCullum and Stokes, then say goodbye to Root Pope Crawley Archer Wood Smith

Stokes will go after this series. He has put all his eggs in this basket. I'm convinced that's why Brook was made vice-captain, so he'd be capt of all formats.

The truth is we've knocked over by Starc and a group of back-up bowlers.

Preparation has been awful.
No pink ball game. It's not just the batting and the bowling that requires pink ball experience it's also fielding and seeing it the bloody thing!

Should we have agreed to a pink ball test? No! Root was right! It's a massive advantage, but players' so called shot selection needs some real questions.

Broad called out Brook. And rightly so! 31 tests now and he plays like he's having a hit in a charity game!
Smith isn't good enough with the gloves and we've picked Jacks in case the other 7 batters don't get em!

There used to be a saying in the 80s 'if the top 6 aint getting em then then 7 and 8 aren't either!'

Wafting the bat at Stark's wide deliveries
It really is Christmas come early

150 for something to bowl at but it ain’t enough! If we have that 150 lead and bowling in the last hour pitch is doing a lot we get 4/5 wickets for 40 runs we then have a slight sniff but still expect the Aussies to knock the runs of in the morning play when pitch is good! That is a long long way off!

Why couldn't the top end batters knuckle down like this?
All Root and Brook had to do was keep in until the morning. We could have been looking at a very different game now. Stokes has batted well out there, not been tempted to make stupid shots. I hope the tactics at tea were to keep batting and ignore any set total in mind.
