Seems all excuses what in hearing from this! Bottom line they should have demanded or paid for a pitch to practice on that bounce! It just make me more angry watching it..

Just seen the Duckett Video. Christ. Now, I get it. These are grown men, they're entitled to a bit of down time. But you need to show that you can be trusted in your drinking and eating habits when you have a couple of days away from the cricket. Also there's apparently a quite a few of them seen vaping. It all adds up to an amateurish mindset. And that's not even taking into account the lack of adequate preparation in the build up to the first test. What's that old saying; fail to prepare, prepare to fail?

Yep if it was 2 days enjoying yourself fine but 6 days on a stag do bender is way out of order..

Talking of eating habits did you see the gut on Key. What a fine example he sets. Clearly follows the Mike Gatting diet programme

No;it's not a good example. But he's not on his own. There's plenty of cricketers who are carrying too much timber, considering they're professional sportspeople. Wasn't there a Windies player, and a couple of Pakistani lads who were ridiculously overweight. There's also a woman umpire and a couple of women players who are seriously overweight. Not sure why any of these can't simply eat sensibly. At least, in Key's case, he's not actually still playing.

Make sure you don't mention the weight on the English Ladies Test side on the BBC website. You get banned.

It's not the first time either. He caused some issues in a previous Ashes tour and it took him years to rebuild his reputation at an international level again.

"The perception that Duckett was something of a loose cannon was unavoidable after he intruded into the narrative of England's 2017-18 Ashes tour in less-than-helpful fashion. Duckett, touring with England Lions, found himself headline news when he threw beer over James Anderson in a Perth bar. Duckett was fined and suspended from the rest of the tour and needed to rebuild trust before England took another look."

He might he alright this time considering Crawley is his opening partner!

Injured Archer to miss the next 2 tests hahahaha
It's a shambles and they Stokes and Bazball want to stay on because of the good work they have done in the 3 years. What a load of bollcks and piss taking

Clearly a yes man for the top table at the ECB
Where are the consequences of failure ? getting it so wrong and allowing the players' coaches to have a holiday piss up for 5 days. Where was the preparation ? Key could organise a piss up ? but what about proper cricket matches before and in between test

Bashir not playing in the first 3 test and picking part-time spinner Jacks to bowls lolly pops
Players like Archer now deemed injured and will fly home haha, Mark Wood played 1 test and fly's home

Stokes. McCullum has to go and so does Key, then take your pick out of the shambles so-called squad

Bashir now only has ONE contract, and that is with the ECB. He couldn’t get in the Somerset side, (not only kept out by Jack Leach, top spinning wicket taker in England, but also behind the legendary Archie Vaughan, whoever he is).
So, as of 2025 and 2026 no English county will take him on, and yet he’s on an Ashes tour.

I think Stokes is actually the right man, but he will resign citing family time for his decision.
The reason they made Harry Brook vice-capt was so he could take over because they don't see Pope as shoe-in for the team, never mind the captaincy!
But Key is a problem and so are the ECB.

When Darren Lehman says he's never spoken to a selector that's a joke.
Coach of a county side, and one with international experience, and he's never had a conversation with a selector?
No wonder we fail.

I hope Stokes stays on and we don't start planning for the next Ashes in Australia now. We've always been obsessed with that series down under and usually get battered. It's much better to plan for each test as it comes, try to win it and become the best side we can be. Then we go to Australia with the right people in the right form to win there. Generally they've been better than us and it's no more complicated than that.

This has been piss poor from a preparation perspective and the selections have been bizarre in the lead up.

Cricket doesn't need reinventing. The Australians have batted aggressively and quickly but done it better. They've bowled the right line and length and been better. They've taken their chances in the field better.

The Lions tour at the start of the year should have been the nail in the coffin of Bashir - he should have been sent to play county cricket. Tongue was also useless for the Lions. Sam Cook, the best County bowler over the past few years and most suited to replacing Jimmy/Broad got one test and was out. He took 8 wickets for 150ish runs with the Lions earlier this year. He might not bowl fast, but like Boland and Nesir he can bowl the right line and length to take wickets in Australia - the Lions was proof!

Keep Baz, keep Stokes and let them show they've learned from this over the next 12-18months. Give them the next home Ashes and then go from there with a side hopefully much more consistent and capable of winning down under.

I don't dispute Bethell is a talent, but to throw him in now having barely played and generally played poorly is a huge challenge.

He said it himself he will be assessed by the ECB so he knows he could be sacked but he backs every decision he and the group made!

Archie Vaughan is Michael Vaughan's lad
