I could be entirely wrong but I just don't think the rags would pay that sort of money anymore. Baconface has gone and Gill's no longer CEO. Moyes is manager and the Glazers have their own man in the CEO's office now. They'll be looking keep costs under control not increase them.
They could be shipping Rooney out but even that wouldn't come close to covering the cost of Ronaldo.

Which is why I'm quite confused by all of this. Talks have stalled and it seems like the only known interested party is PSG.. but why would u leave Madrid to go there? Makes no sense. If it gets confirmed that he has put his house up for sale and wants to leave I can see us making an offer..

If we ever were to make an offer, I am sure we would base making that offer on more than hearing he has put his house up for sale.
If he was to go to PSG that would be great for the French league- some quality players moving there at the minute.
