Cristiano Ronaldo

Everyone is being seduced because he's been one of the best player in the world for such a long time, but he's not worth 25 million at 36 years old. Also he is just a stop gap, if we are so professional off the pitch how come we have got to this stage of the transfer without replacing our main centre forward, everybody including our owners know what Levy is like. Forwards should of been scouted long ago not trying desperately to sign a 36 year old in the dying embers of a transfer window.
I always wonder if comments like this are just more about him being ex United. That was 12 fricking years ago. We have no first class strikers. This is literally a match made in heaven to give us a chance to find a new young target over the next 1-2 seasons.

Recouped in shirt sales alone
We will undoubtedly make a profit on this transfer not in fees but increased sales of basically everything.

In the grander context of the game its like singing a (an albeit towards the end of their career) Pele / Maradona / Cruyff.

I'm not amazingly keen on his past club choices but its obvious this is a stratospheric and historic move for the whole CFG. Especially if its Ronaldo who requested the move without us really enquiring.

It's not all bad news for the rags. They will probably get Haaland next summer now.

we need a short term quick fix for a huge issue we have, we have no striker who can score goals. we have a few players that can play centrally but better of on the wing and some talents in youth teams. and sterling who might find his old form or he may not and continues to be very frustrating front of goal. and Pep had enough of that and made sure we go after Kane which was bottled by us dragging it along, by Charlie and by Levy...

De Bruyne with the through ball for Mahrez down the wing, Mahrez obviously makes his signature chop and the defender falls down, crosses for Ronaldo who smashes it home. 40 times per season.

BBC doing us no favours with this.

I thought this was a really lazy discussion from the Euro leagues lot when I heard it live.

No offence Kristoff Terreur but how the fuck do you know what Pep wants? We're currently playing with Ferran Torres, a winger who can finish and find a bit of space up front and people are wondering if it makes sense to replace him with the highest scoring winger in the history of football.

Why is picking up Ronaldo for a year or 2 more of a panic than throwing as much money as Levy asks for until he sells Kane? And why would signing Ronaldo then Haaland (21) next summer be short term thinking compared to signing 28 year old Kane?

I think they were caught by surprise as the news broke shortly before the show, but it was a very poor level of discussion, and painful listening to people who were talking about how much Ronaldo has changed and matured only a few months ago during the Euros suddenly revert back to old stereotypes.

Honigstein tried to argue Haaland couldn't be targeted by City now, as if he would be scared off by the prospect of playing with a 37 year old Ronaldo - a player he's publicly stated is his idol.

But then again they also spoke about if Pep would ever want to manage Spain despite the fact he's on record as saying he'd love to multiple times.
