Crumpsall Synagogue Attack - two people confirmed dead, one inadvertently shot by police along with the suspect

Where my missus works, it’s pretty well thought out the security. Absolutely cannot get in unless you are a parent or worker and even then it’s a pass to get in or buzz the door. Then there is a second door that has security systems that separate reception and the main school. High metal fences. Never impossible, but it would be hard to get in.

Thinking that of a school local to me, the complete opposite. It really is very scary what people could do if they, as you say, are going to target schools.
There can be 100% security once the kids are in school, but no amount can protect them at the school gate particular at going home time where they all leave together. We live in a mad world

Where are the reports saying schools are targets? Or anything else for that matter?
After children being killed in Manchester by terrorists previously and Southport previously why wouldn't people be concerned about potential attacks on children in this City?

There are lots of Jewish Blues, of which I am one, and I know that the comments here will be hugely appreciated - and are not really a surprise to me, knowing how wonderful our fan community is.

Unfortunately, as almost every Jew I know agrees, it was only a matter of time till something as tragic as this occurred, but to happen with this community, which was so proactive in it's interfaith work and partnerships with other local faith groups, including the Muslim community, is even more shocking.

Thank you for all your love, common sense and support.

Met a fellow Blue on a Baltic cruise who is a Manchester Jew who now lives in London. Got on with him like a house on fire and have subsequently met up a few times. He will be gutted by this and I send him and the whole community my condolences.

Find it mad they didn't just do a headshot right away considering they thought he had a bomb.

Always the innocent who get dragged into this nonsense , RIP to both victims
Not sure but I think armed police are trained to hit the biggest target ie the body. A bullet anywhere tends to be pretty much game over.

City’s Facebook page has posted their condolences regarding today’s tragic events. And it’s followed below the line by the most outrageous antisemitic comments. Why do they have no one as admin monitoring it? It was same when they posted to celebrate Hanukkah. If they can’t be bothered monitoring it, don’t post it.

I’ve just clocked that. Total joke

It’s the same with things like pride. It’s toxic and those people aren’t city fans

yes i'm afraid social media - anything with facility for comment - has been a ripe battleground for modern geopolitics for some years now. I read a stat years ago that predicted up to 90% of posts on forums and comment facilities on facebook etc would be AI or bot generated. I'm not sure what i interact with is that high, but you can see how much of this is just similar unfiltered bigotry, almost instantly. It helps to destabilse faith in your own society and set people against other groups, as well as encouraging radicalisation to causes.

The internet is very very much the new arena of cultural and societal warfare.

Because social media is full of bots and cunts. A post like that they should do the smart thing and just turn the comments off.

Usually the police do aim for centre-mass, but trying to stop the detonation of an IED is one of the few exceptions, they aim for the head/CNS (termed a critical shot) to immediately incapacitate the target.

RE the rest of @CTID1988 's post - It must be a very hard decision to make. Security services will want the attacker alive if at all possible to be able to interrogate them, get info and stop any other attacks that could be coordinated, and dead-man switches have been used in the past (Belsan) so even if you do shoot them in the head you're not guaranteed to stop anything.
