Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Slightly disappointing performance after the win vs Forest but it is just understandble with the injuries to Ake and Akanji. A mixed bag for Lewis but the ref wasn't great either.

Lads 20, bang out of form and played RB, CM, RM and LB in recent weeks. He's a good squad player being asked to fill in everywhere barring up front. It's the senior players letting us down at the moment. 1st goal Gundogan gives ball away cheaply, ball in behind and walker plays the lad onside. Second gosl, absolute shite pass from Bernardo results in a corner and they score a free header poorly defended by walker. While Gundo and Walker are starting, any team with pace and I include the rags next week, will run over us and be a threat.
his age is irrelevant

the fact that he is needed to play so many different positions is just a further inditement of the club....and he is a master at none of those positions. .....players are fit he doesnt get close to th team therefore he aint good enough.

He is a senior player...he is in the first team squad....and other players are letting us down but that is no excuse for him as he is also letting us down with poor performances.

agree on your assessment of both goals but rico has no clue where his man is on the first either.

Agree on walker and Gundo a well

Really.
Stills are not a reflection on reality

You seen to have made your mind up it's the refs fault, that's fine, we disagree.
Watching it live I actually thought Rico did commit the foul, Silly to give the ref a decision to make when you lunge in like he had done on a yellow.

It was the wrong decision unfortunates, Just wish he'd stayed on his feet though.

I think a lot of players are carrying knocks and as the schedule is so busy nobody has a chance to completely recuperate, so the injuries are getting steadily worse.
But we all knew the schedule would be busy and we know the players have had bugger all time off for the past four summers so why go with such a small squad?

Said it before and got laughed at, what Txiki has done is bordering negligence, the squad is absolutely the weakest I can remember in recent years. Feels like the year after Fergie won the title, if City don’t get a grip of the recruitment and stop concentrating on being the net spend kings it could get worse before it gets better.
I think Txiki is leaving at the right time

You could do with some new ones clearly
Their defender cleared the ball, Rico slid in and missed the ball, and the defender caught him following through....after the ball had gone. A penalty to us would have been a shocking decision, although no worse than the sending off.

Is Issa Kabore that much worse than Walker, genuinely asking.

Saw the line-up didn't bother watching, Walker, Lewis, Gvardiol + Gudogan and Nunes in Midfield, recipe for disaster. Get used to it, this is the standard for the rest of the season, we'll have constant injuries and our razor-thin squad will be ran ragged. Don't expect any signings in Jan from the board.

You know when we resigned Gundi everyone thought it was a shrewd signing me included. I love the guy but he has been a weak imitation of himself when he was at his majestic peak.

In away we are lucky to have him. In a way it’s an indictment of our recruitment.

Not saying ya all his fault but, on current form, he is a big part of the problem. Think so many of our defensive issues are a trickle down ftom a weak midfield/missing Rodri.

Whatever, I'll take the point. But that was fucking shocking in the end.

There are so many "first team" players giving us absolutely fuck all at the moment. Less than fuck all, to be honest. They're tired, over-played, and lacking the hunger you need to play for a Pep team.

Walker, Gundogan, Bernardo, and Gvardiol - all of them have been absolutely terrible in so many games recently. Giving the ball away constantly, making huge mistakes, and gifting it to the other team at all times.

Palace created nothing. We gifted them the first goal and then passed it straight to them for the second goal. That sort of shit is unacceptable but Pep seems to think it's fine despite it happening 10 times per game at the moment?

Meanwhile "squad players" like Ortega, Doku, Nunes, and Grealish are giving us so much more and carrying an actual bloody threat when they come on. It's time for Pep to really shake things up just before January imo.

Ortega
Akanji, Stones, Dias, Lewis
Kovacic, Grealish
Foden, De Bruyne, Doku
Haaland

Play that XI until the window opens. Let Gundogan and Walker save themselves from any more embarrassment, give Bernardo a proper rest, drop Gvardiol until he gets his fucking act together. Give the others a chance!

And if Kovacic isn't fit for the Manchester derby, what does Gundogan currently offer us that Wright or O'Reilly wouldn't give us? He gets caught dawdling at least twice per half. Pep needs to put a rocket up his arse.
" lacking the hunger to play for a Pep side ".

Its not a...'couldnt give a fuck attitude'....as in rash ford for example. They are not deliberately coasting.

The players are simply exhausted for all the known reasons, acceptable or otherwise.

Several players are being asked to play when not fully fit and being asked to play out of position.

Fatigue causes loss of concentration (not deliberate).

Loss of concentration causes errors (not deliberate)

Fatigue causes stress related injuries (not deliberate)

Playing when half fit creates fatigue AND stress.....rinse and repeat (not deliberate)

We have had (repeated) injuries to 12 players including the best player in the world for the season, the second best player for most games and Phil has disappeared with successive illness's.

We've had to play who is availabe to put the shirt on and do a job. Not ideal but a fact.

The unqualified critism of players who have pushed themselves through minutes by some on here is utterly nauseating, and i bet the critics rarely if ever go to a game, home or away.....Keyboard wankers.

We will refit, we will rebuild, we will renew, and we will return.

It wont be easy, and it may not be this season, but now is the time to understand not over react.

CTID.

Kabore has hardly played for Benfica. It is a stretch to expect him to replace Walker. Injuries are forcing the issue in giving a fading Walker more starts than he should.
