Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

This team needs some 400 million worth of new talent to compete with the new set of challengers - Liverpool Arsenal and then Chelsea
And I say this with very seriously - a generational full back - walker was 50 back then - we need another 60 70
A KDB regen - 120-150 million
A VVD or Laporte - 80-90 mil
A Mahrez or two - another 100 million

I don’t know we can do that but we did that before once when Pep arrived and we ended up with tons of trophies

I didn't think the result was too bad? I mean, have we all forgotten our form of the last two months?

This isn't just a few injuries putting us under par, there are some real issues with certain players, simple errors that aren't going away etc. No it's not nice to see the general sluggishness going forward but that point isn't bad.
The injuries are the primary reason. It's having a knock-on effect to other players in that they are not getting their usual rotation. Whether that rotation would be for physical or mental tiredness doesn't make a difference, it's still needed. Players cannot play every 3 or 4 days and still be at their best.

Ederson has to be brought back in. Ortega is a good keeper but he just doesn't offer the same.

It's definitely rebuild time for Pep and the team and we have to recruit a hell of a lot better than the past couple of seasons. And in all departments as well. This team has run it's cycle and it's been an exhilarating ride for sure but it's time to move some of the players on and replace them with quality players or maybe give the likes of McAtee, O'Reilly, Wright and other youngsters more game time.

But with the PSR, APT, FFP restrictions put in place by the PL (or the red cartel to be honest) it's going to be a big ask to recruit quality players as quickly as it is needed.

But they cannot take away the fact we've done a domestic grand slam, the daddy treble, 4 in a row title wins, World Club champions, Super Cup winners. Yet all these numpties from Dipperpool, Tarquinville, Trafford Swamplands and others keep slagging Pep off with "Fraudiola, he can only manage clubs with massive backing behind him, yada, yada, yada". But if they had the chance of taking Pep as their manager, they would have took it like a shot. Anyone who says they wouldn't are lying through their teeth.
I agree with your comments on our success...they are quite unbelievable. As for Pep. He is also an unbelievable coach however let's be unbiased and objective . Could he really have achieved such success without the players he has had? I really dont believe so. I think the current predicament we are in bares that out. Would another top team want him...for sure they would.

Laugh all you want but i'd rather we didn't turn into Wengers latter Arsenal days.
Of course, i didn't mean i'd walk away if we didn't win the title, i just meant i don't see why sides celebrate coming 2nd, 3rd or 4th.
I have no problem with not winning trophies, it happens, i just wouldn't celebrate finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th
I agree mate, I won’t be going to the top 4 parade either ;-)

My view is a top 4 league finish and winning cup(s) would be brilliant this season, bearing in mind the point we’re at. Of course I don’t want us to give up trying to win the league, but if we don’t win it, top 4 does matter, cos the money matters; it directly impacts everything else in the following season. Saying it matters is not the same as saying I’d “celebrate” it.
Don’t walk away anyway mate!

I didnt see the game as I was visiting my mum in hospital, but from the gist of the posts in the thread I gather city were shit.

The sign of a good team is one that plays shit and doesn't lose.

That's 2 games unbeaten.

Let's stick together blues.
Yep. Before you know it we will be on 40points and safe.
