Crystal Palace (A) | Post Match Thread

obviously you should have won tonight but we were always going to need that bit of luck. Over the season we've had terrible luck really, should be at least 5-10 points better off based on how we've played, so not gonna complain about a game where we got away with a somewhat fortutious point!!

Thought Tyrick Mitchell was the stand out best player on the pitch tonight, will be a travesty if he doesn't get in the next England squad, a far better and more rounded player than Wan-Bissaka ever was, top top talent. We could legitimately have four players in that England squad in Guehi, Mitchell, Gallagher and Olise pretty amazing the progress they've all made under Vieira.

Anyway good luck for the rest of the season I'm sure you'll still beat the scousers to the title!

An embarrassment really? Why does everything have to have a negative connotation? why can’t we just admit Liverpool are a fucking brilliant side and if they win it congratulate them for an unbelievable run of wins. We may not like liveepool but to lose an 8 point lead to them and to say it would be embarrassing is pathetic. Like a spoilt child
I absolutely do admit Liverpool deserve to be in the position they’re in. I would even say we’ve made more points when we didn’t deserve than they did; when they win, they usually deserve it, even if it’s at the end. Our form hasn’t been consistent for a few months. But the way we have allowed for their probable remontada I do think is inexcusable — two defeats to Spurs the way they happened (first one to the disastrous Nuno Espírito Santo side that couldn’t win against anyone else and the second one in the last minute like that, which by the way, they probably deserved to win it more easily than they did), and to not win once against Palace, no matter how great a job Vieira is doing, isn’t okay. I also think Liverpool strengthened themselves in January with a player that makes them more dangerous and gives them depth in Diaz. I know they got him preparing to lose one of their stars, but if it had been us, we’d have waited for the summer. This again is me giving them credit.

So what changes would you have made that would’ve changed the game ? Forget the Ake one I’ll give you a WUM pass for that.
I would have had Gundo on for the final 30 for sure - much quicker tempo of passes and capable of scoring

i thought Grealish was abysmal until the last 10-15 after which he improved - I’d have hooked him - put Foden on the left and Gabby in the middle (iirc Gabby scored away at palace last year with a poachers goal)

This place is turning into ragcaf every time we dont win recently, a shame, because if any set of fans could handle adversity I thought it would be us, even with the stench of red in here.

We had plenty of chances to win that game tonight,if we take just one there are no shouts about subs, no comments about shit performances, and all the other misses would not matter, and no undercover rags/dippers on here either.

Fact is we couldnt score, and apart from running out of steam in the last twenty we played well, despite one or two not being at their best.

The dippers cheated a late penalty to beat palace, they are no walkovers, in fact no team is for us, because our scalp is THE scalp for every other team in the pl, witness their fans reactions at a draw.

Now, mid march we are four points ahead in a two horse race, having played a game more and with our rivals having to come to our place, its up to us and us alone.

Momentum is with the dippers some have said, momentum ends with a draw or loss, arsenal hopefully end dippers momentum this week, and even if they dont, if we match the dippers points for the next nine games we are certain to win the league.

Lets not forget, we have bettered their points over the previous twenty nine games, so its a real possibility we will do it, and if we dont? then fck it, we hopefully strengthen in the summer and go again.

Or we can give up, like some on here seem to have done already.

Liverpools side has always got a goal in it - I think more worryingly is they seem to conceding very few at the moment.

fact is there is unlikely to be more than 3 points between us come the end of the season so the game at the Etihad is going to be shit or bust for both sides
We have failed to score on four occasions this season. The cult only once. Even Chelsea only three times.
Strikers win you tight games. That we haven’t got one worthy of the name is madness and a failure of recruitment.
The failure to replace Vinny when we knew he was going cost us one title challenge, I hope doing likewise with Sergio isn’t going to come back and haunt us

Got to Page 8 of this thread and nearly gave up at the amount of fanny wiping going on tonight.

We need a striker, but we bossed that game tonight, hit the post twice, their keeper made a couple of stunning saves and we also failed to convert nailed on chances.

We've been below form in a few games now, but we are still 4 points ahead of the dippers, possibly 1 if they beat Arsenal tomorrow. Mid-march I would rather be in that position than 1 point behind.

Less of the talk about us blowing it, we haven't yet. We do need Pep to work his Subs bench though.

A win against the Dippers and we'll be in a great position to push on and win the PL again.
You can’t say that on here…..we have blown it and will never win again is the order of the day. Liverpool are a Super Team also very popular with blues right now.

There were 2 games I just knew we'd lose. Tottenham & Palace. We deserved a point at least from both, but only got the one tonight, which is one more than I was honestly expecting. )(

Palace were superb tonight! They were well drilled, well motivated & probably had their two best performances of the season against us? They were more than the sum of their parts. Vieira auditioning for the top City gig anyone? :-)

We played well, but were sloppy at times that nearly cost us a goal or two, & we were wasteful several times. This is type of match where Aguero would have made the difference with one of those many many chances we missed, had saved or squandered.

I'm pissed off, but we got what will turn out to be a crucial point. We fought & fought, & I've few complaints apart from having so many chances, & not putting at least one away.

Fuck it! Roll on whenever our next match is. There'll be a media blackout in our gaff until then. I just can't take all the "We Love the Dippers" bollocks you just know will come. Can Arteta do us a favour?

I can handle losing points in a title race. What I don't like is having the commentary make out this is all about City v Liverpool. It is. But with so many games to go it shouldn't be commentated in that way.
I haven't watched any recent Liverpool games but have they referenced the result to City? Probably not.
It's almost a willing for us to drop points. An advert for it. Watch this game to see if Liverpool have a chance of winning the league.
I pay the same money for sky sports as any fan does. When I watch my team I'm nervous as fuck at this stage in the season. But above all else I just want to enjoy watching my team play football. Win, lose or draw. It's harder to do that when the commentary is adding to my nerves by constantly referring to this as us against Liverpool rather than whoever we are playing. I can't do this to the same level when they can't hide their bias.
If they do the same for Liverpool games then yeah, fair enough, it's capitalism. But I'm assuming they don't?
