Agreed, had we put away our chances it would have been a different game, but whereas in previous games....

That wasn't the case at Newcastle.

We both agree that City thoroughly deserved to win that game, Newcastle deserved absolutely nothing for that dire anti-football, but there can be no denying that game took a lot out of us, more than it should.

I think the Newcastle game was exceptional due to two factors. The first was that they were ultra defensive, and did what they could to conserve energy, packed the 18 yd box, didn’t chase balls further than halfway, players stuck to the structure rigidly and gave the impression they were not at all interested in playing...in the second half, the gamplan was revealed, change things up with the subs, try and get a goal by fast countering.....
The second factor in play was city’s awful finishing; it doesn’t happen very often but we do very occasionally look leggy and void of making the right run/pass. I think the commentary made the point that by end of first half we had more shots than any previous game upto ht....that demonstrates we created the chances but the finishing was poor

Just my 2p...

Pep on injuries:

"We will see in the next days about Silva."

"Yesterday John Stones made his first complete training session. He's not ready for 90 minutes yet but the next game he will be fit. Huge news for us."

On Vincent Kompany's injury "Not as bad as we thought. He will be ready for the next fixtures. We will know exactly tomorrow. It was a calf strain but it is not a big issue."

"Delph was not fit for Newcastle but he's much better now. Yesterday he trained. Today is a day off. We will see. Similar to Vinnie - he knows his body."

Otamendi and Mangala (for Benteke) to start and Stones on bench; Kompany can sit this one out. Walker will need Sterling and Fernandinho to help close the space down around Saha. All Palace’s threat against Arsenal came down the left. Last night, Palace allowed plenty space behind their full backs for crosses or cut backs, so it is imperative Aguero and the other winger get in front of their men and take their chances.

I keep seeing keep Zaha quiet , he has one assist in the last 21 games and that was last night ? Nobody ever thought 'oh we must keep Navas quiet' when they played us
How do you know? You weren’t inside opposition locker room. Navas pace was always a threat to opponent regardless.
Zaha is their only out let .
