Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thought we played well throughout but two fractional errors defensively cost us goals (Dias just too deep and Eddie getting trapped by Mateta), when Macca should already have put us ahead and we should have had a pen to equalise.

Movement and passing were what they should be today, and showed that when City execute what Pep wants, it is still an effective way to play because, make no mistake, five goals, and it should have been more, against the team that had the best defensive record away from home and the best overall in 2025 in the league is impressive.

Yet again though we get an injury to a key player and we will forever wonder what might have been if we had not had such a disastrous time with injuries.

I thought we were playing well (defence and keeper excepted) and creating clearcut chances from the very start. We played some lovely stuff. I never felt we were going to lose the game, even at 2-0 down.
I fucking did
We were totally bereft of any confidence until KDB scored
That goal changed the entire game

The most important thing after a performance like this is can we expect the same next week ? we've had no consistency all season.

Some interesting stats

Games in all competitions this season where Kovacic, De Bruyne and Gundogan started as the three in the centre.
Won 5
Drawn 1
Lost 0

I'll see you all in the Everton pre-match thread where people continue to be "baffled" by Pep picking them again

Were they in a midfield 3?

Where did Nico play?

To be fair, all three played really well in the last hour.

That was good fun, absolutely mental game. That de bruyne goal was the turning point, feared we were gonna get embarrassed then just completely dominated. Marmoush is gonna be a star

Nice to see City playing well in the sunshine, you can't beat it.

Let's try to forget about the first half hour :)

Thought this was going to be Bobb's breakout season until his injury. Nice cameo. Happy feet.

Games like this are why I hate playing Crystal Palace. Can never be a straightforward affair with them.

From the minute Kev hit the post that was our performance of the season by a mile. He dragged us by the scuff of the neck and drove us on. Absolutely fantastic performance from him.

We started the game well too but as per usual sloppy possession losses cost us and we were very fortunate not to go 3-0 down.

Great win and clearly a good selection by Pep. Certainly didn’t miss Foden or Silva.
