Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Match thread wankers???

There's a bigger one sat behind me!

He's only been there this season, somehow he's got 2 season tickets, brings someone different every game.
Always has a few beers beforehand, and let's us all know!.
Every game he ' very loudly ' let's everyone know where Pep's gone wrong with today's selections.
Yesterday he really pissed me off, and a good few around us.
Sits down just on Kick Off and spouts off about how Pep needs to make 4 subs now because he's got it wrong.
'Get Nico, McAtee, Kovatic and Kev off'....

Bring on Doku,( he was slagging him off all game just before he scored recently),
Savinho too.

Heard him say to his mate at 2-0 down.
"We might as well cash in our bet now, we'll get £55..."

The fucker bet against City!!!

Then when Nico went down in their D he says, "Good, I hope he's broke his fucking leg"

That's just scandalous to say that about any player but one of our own!
Calling him a waste of money.

He also states he " hates"James McAtee...

HATES HIM!!

I said to my Mrs really wanted JM to score and he so did.

Our mate behind me grudgingly says, " he took that well"....

I really wanted Kovatic to hit a thunder bastard, and he did...he never mentioned that one.

I end up just laughing at him but he's really getting on my nerves.
Don't suggest I have a go at him, I'm getting on and have had a heart bypass. I just hate the negativity he radiates every game.
Luckily he fucks off early and everyone around takes the piss.

Food for thought actually. We did seem more mobile, fluid and efficient in attack rather than trying to find/feed Haaland when he's man marked/not supported all the time. Also after last week's derby I did give KdB man of the match (1 of only 3 votes - about 1%). This was not obviously universally popular (on sentiment as it was his last derby). But of all our midfield players he was the only one to try and pick a pass and initiate an attack. Didn't work then (crap derby) but it did a treat against Palace.

It was said prior to this match that City were defending better but struggling to create chances. In this game, I think defended well generally although Ederson made a mistake at the corner. That looked like a corner he should have collected. I thought that Dias dominated Mateta and won almost all their duels. At half-time, Palace took off Mateta and I think that was because Dias was dominating Mateta.

Shearer claimed on MOTD that it was a game of 2 halves and that City were much better in the 2nd but imo Palace don't take Mateta off unless City are dominant. We were unlucky not to be leading at half-time, and I was hoping for more of the same.

Loved it yesterday. In my first 35 years of watching City (before the Sheikh), we saw that sort of performance about every five years. Now most of the ground take it so much for granted they miss the last 5 or 10 minutes.

Danny and Roel love that. They are straight onto Soriano telling him match tickets are too cheap, whilst Trade Union Blues are claiming another 9 minute walk out.

If I can refresh some posters memory. I and several other posters over the years have said we would forego the odd trophy if it meant more local lads in the starting line up. That’s what we’ve got, partly due to injuries but more so down to a brilliant academy. Thank you Sheikh Mansour.

Anyway, the mighty Harrogate Blues are running a coach to Wembley for the semi final and there’s several seats to fill, if you live over the wrong side of the Pennines.

I reckon it's safer to say that the first half was a half of two halves! Not sure if we tweaked something tactically or just went up the gears but up to them scoring that disallowed third they were cutting through us at will. After that nothing and yeh we definitely could have been up at half-time.

From a possible 3-0 down to 2-2 in about 5 minutes. Nice to see VAR work in our favour for once.

Brilliant to see De Bruyne roll back the years and put the team on his back and carry us one more time. Been a privilege to watch him over the years

KDB did play well in this game but that doesn't mean he played well at Utd. And vs Palace, it wasn't the KDB-show. The media always look for an angle on a game and KDB did play very well but Kovacic and Marmoush also played very well. My MoM went to Marmoush. He could have had a hat-trick. He might have done better with his one-on-one but he made a good run, and he was slightly fouled as he shot. He also offered us width.

I did think KDB's interview on MOTD was interesting in that he said he was pain-free, That's the kind of insight that we don't typically get. Perhaps he can produce this performance again?

I thought it was also good management from Pep to bring on Bobb as a sub. And Bobb produced one moment of magic in the 2nd half. They didn't show it on MOTD but he completely bamboozled their left back and it nearly led to a goal. Bobb might make a difference in the remaining games.

Was just going to ask the same question about Haaland.
Haaland is brilliant at raising our profile, no doubt about that, but we do seem to play like the old City when he is injured.
An hour before ko at our local Tesco a joung lad of about 8 or 9 in full City kit with Haaland on the back.

I slightly object to the comment KDB carried us. That would suggest he was a 10.10 and everyone else was average whereas several City players had very good games. Marmoush was also brilliant and could have had a hat-trick.

Has anyone Checked in on matterface and Stuart Pearce before match started they were giddy god knows what shit they were preaching at 2.0.down

Didn't see us winning yesterday before kick off. Definitely didn't see it after conceding 2 piss easy goals.
Some fightback from the lads. Nice to see KDB roll back the years as well after last week's non performance.

Ours checked more than others though!

I said to my mate today, we should tell the PL to Fuck Off and they aren't using our screens until "All" Clubs are forced to install them.

It's a fucking joke how every goal ww score is like a full blown autopsy yet you know who (2 Clubs) get a quick glance and the goal is given for them, or disallowed if against them.
When opposition goal disallowed its a judge to be offside
City goal disallowed its offside

An unexpected starting XI and at 0-2 it looked horrific with Palace slicing through us at every opportunity.
However we looked quicker and more fluid going forward and once we'd equalised everything seemed more balanced
Interesting that McAtee has now scored 3 PL goals this season without hardly featuring

It was a weird first 25. We also were making chances but did not take them and found ourselves two down.

Once we scored though I felt there was only going to be one winner.

I enjoyed the match and with a few youngsters getting game time it made it better.

There is no denying that Marmoush played well. But Kev scored the first, was at the back post to nod back the second, played the pass to Kovacic for the third. He was integral taking us from 0-2 to 3-2.

We looked good in attack even when it was 0-2, however with the counters we had no protection for Riley and they exposed that and unluckily we conceded on any sort of threat from them. The quick comeback probably shocked Palace into retreat. However if there was any tactical change done to stop those runs on the wings, we need to be adapting that quickly. The lack of defensive fullbacks was very evident (though also helped a bit in attack) and we need to be shielding both the RB/LB a lot more, it was probably the reason Savinho and Doku din't start. Pep just din't want too many turnovers.

It was actually enjoyable. Even at 2 (nearly 3 down) we were doing ok, a couple of individual mistakes apart. After the first 20 which was fairly even despite the scoreline, we totally took over and were well deserved winners in the end.

I know Mcatee missed a few chances, but we need to give him some slack. He’s had no consistent run in the team, tuff to come in cold and deliver straight away but thought he was involved in a lot, a constant threat at their goal and eventually got a goal. Savinho has 2 goals in 40 games this season (1 goal every 1261 minutes). Mcatee is 7 goals now in severely limited minutes (1 goal every 115 minutes). He has to start moving forward, Savinho has had more than enough chances and hasnt delivered. We cant afford to lose Mcatee without giving him an extended run in the team, like we did with Palmer….

Marmoush was definately fouled as he shot in the one on one - it should have been a pen and a sending off.
The result was just deserts for Palace on that alone I think.
He was, but that type of foul is never given if the player stays on his feet and gets his shot off. Didn't look like there was much of a pull, but could have upset his balance as he prepared to shoot.
Doubt it would have been a red card as it wasn't dangerous even though there was no attempt to play the ball.
