Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good win, good to see Foden do a great game but I don’t se how Arsenal can drop point against this Palace. They are shit right now, the manager leaving they will surely rest players, so nothing speaks for Palace, but fuck what nice if it happens.

If I was Glasner, I would want to know that my first eleven were back up to speed, after resting and rotating, for the final and Arsenal is the last time to do that.

Of course, although we have never been seen in the same room, I am not Glasner.

I think Pep is thinking that after half time that arsenal have to outscore us. arsenal have one game to outscore us when we have two games.
Situation now is that if we are to win our final two games 2 nil, arsenal have to score 6 in one match without reply.
Obviously this is dependent on arsenal dropping points in one of their matches
All we can do is keep winning our games and let's see, we are not thinking its game on and resting players last night sort of said ok we know and NOW the FA Cup is Bigger and a must-win game

Not sure about that - hopefully Pep's behaviour on the touchline - and the aggressive substitutions - pretty much reinforced that he doesn't think it's over?

Edit: wish we'd used subs like that earlier in the season, tbh - instead of trying to protect leads when our defence was struggling. Still, can't change that now.

The only thing Glasner looked like he was thinking last night was 'I wonder if I kill a couple of these useless bastards whether I'll be able to cover my tracks?'

So could a six goal thrashing

The reality is, we are still in the fight, but when you have to hope that somebody helps you out, then we didn't do our job properly ? This season, after the 38 games we can look back and easily find the major mistakes when we lost the title, or we can say thank you to Burnley or Palace in helping us win the title

We only need them to draw...thats the great thing....& Burnley have drawn or won 13 pl games this season & palace have drawn or won 22 pl games..we only need either of them to draw once...its not totally impossible.

Edit; Burnley have drawn or won more than 33% of their games....
Palace have drawn or won more than 50% of their games.

Edit again; get these stats onto an Arsenil forum & they wont sleep for the next 10 days!!
That a good way to look at things.

Palace last home game, most successful manager ever send-off, tight ground, early Palace goal, who knows?

Nah that game was always going to be hard! It was the Forest Brighton Chelsea games at home we drew too that’s why we not top now!
They're the ones that really hurt, but in truth every single goal scored or conceded in every draw is as important as every other goal in any draw.

Equally, every goal - or miss - in every single-goal win or loss is just as important as any other in any of those games.

Bernie's flukey chip (clear from his face afterwards) against West Ham has contributed just as much as Doku's screamer against Everton.

August or May, just as important.

Good win for us last night and wonderful to see Phil Foden's return to form and gametime. The club has rightly respected his privacy through what has been a difficult period even if you consider the pitch as the only feature of a footballer's life. An incredible cameo from Cherki, and good performances too from Khusanov, Savinho, and Semenyo.

I find British commentary peculiar: we had 80% possession and something like 60 touches in the attacking area of the pitch at one point yet the commentary was critical of City rather than a Palace team whose average position for all eleven players was behind the half-way line. I don't blame Palace for setting up in the usual way that teams do to counter City's possession game, and nor do I personally criticise teams for doing so, but let's call it for what it is: get every member behind the ball to restrict and hope for a counter-attack. Any pedestrianism in the game is surely to be directed to the team that is trying to stifle attacking play. Naturally, I hope they are far more successful in their efforts in their final game of the season than they were last night.

Last night's selection rested some players in preparation for the cup final at the weekend. We will go into the game as favourites, but single games are a lottery and though I believe that we are the better side we cannot be complacent.

Our next league game is a real toughie: Bournemouth are on a great run and so well coached. There is a real chance of dropping points in that game, just as I thought we might against Everton away. I don't think that Arsenal will have a similar challenge against Burnley, but strange things happen at sea.

I must be the only person to not what has gone on.

People don't, and that is my point. There has been speculation about medical issues but it has been very, very quiet.
A player of his talent so respected by his coach does not become a bit-part player with such instancy.

A 3 nil win is never a bad league result.

Have we scored 6 in a league game this season, even 5? Can't recall without checking.

You want a fooked side taking on Chelsea in the Cup Final, not for me.
5 v Burnley and at Fulham

Exactly right to rest players, we could have played the first XI and been knackered or picked up a couple of injuries that might have affected our chances in the cup final. We could win 9-0 and it won't matter if Arsenal win both their matches so why lessen our chances of winning the cup?
