Crystal Palace (H) Post Match Thread

All you doom merchants and "the league is over for us" pessimists don't half make me laugh...

Just think... the more hyper and fanatical the Scouse Scum get, the sweeter it will be for us later in the season, when we win the title from them... again.

Walker had a role in all their goals.
He’s a fine athlete but lacks football intelligence.
That penalty he gave away was right in front of me and looked nailed on to happen the moment he decided to dive in.
He is the weak link in our defence.

A defeat which could happen at any time granted but made worse by the fact we took the lead. Our defensive frailties are becoming a worry - we simply can't expect to score 3 goals every game. Delph is clearly no left back. Walker needs a rest or dropping if Danilo is fit. Is that no clean sheet for 8 games in a row now ? Too many players not on song today and the quality from wide just wasn't there. Stones has qualities no doubt but as a DM he can't replace Fernandinho adequately. There are clear worrying signs over squad depth for Pep to be concerned about. Bernardo, whilst always easy on the eye, hasn't stepped up to cover Merlin's absence to be the difference maker we need. Gundog took his goal very well but his overall contributions are merely modest.
As for Palace, they were the best organised team we've played at home this season. They scored an absolute screamer from Townsend and a very good first goal (could Walker have done better to block the shot?) and they worked their balls off all game. We threw as much as we could at them but it wasn't like their keeper had to make save after save which tells you how well set up they were defensively.
Need to bounce back with 3 points v Leicester.

Thought I was being quite gentle with him, he has been below par for an extended period.

It’s unfortunate that Danilo has been constantly unavailable.

Today, Kyle put little to no pressure on Schlupp, he tried a back heel tackle before giving away the free kick which led to their worldy of a second, and then he lunged into a challenge a Sunday league player would have been proud of.

Not a good day at the office. Hopefully he will get rested and come back stronger in the New Year.

That should read ‘regularly’. Even when he has been available, Guardiola has seen fit to use Walker and leave Danilo on the bench or omit him from the squad.

Other than obviously the rags last season, not sure when the last time we conceded 3 at home in the PL?
