Crystal Palace (h) post-match thread

Remember back in October and November there were all those threads declaring how much we suck and how bad Pep has got and how it's time to move him on and how we were past it and how we were on decline and how we wouldn't win anything this season and ho....

I remember
I’m man enough to admit that maybe I was losing a bit of faith..

I’m really pleased with Stones and the way he has turned it around. It’s no coincidence that the defensive solidity is due to the arrival of Dias

Pep has built that defence to win us the CL this year as long as we can score 1 at the other end

We’re a machine at the back. For the first time ever i dont fear teams breaking on us. Probably come back to bite me on the arse that statement but that base looks rock solid and that gets you a long way!!
Yes. How ironic that the defensive transformation is mainly down to a (seeming) third or fourth choice CB signing plus a rehabilitated down-and-out. A few months ago, few knew anything about Dias while rather more were giving up on Stones.

Whatever, we‘ve seized the moment, adjusted style and consequently look more solid than for years. Dias appears a cert for future captaincy.

What’s more, we still have a top defender in Laporte in case of slippage or injury. I wonder how he is feeling at the moment though.

I think many of us were frustrated and giving him a hard time. Glad he - and we - kept the faith - he hasn't done a full Diego Simeone with us, but, the tightening up in the middle at the back has done us the world of good.

me too we did look miles off the pace at the start and we just had no momentum and drew at home to WBA and that broke the camels back. pep changed it up and we started to move the ball quicker and forward. in the arsenal game in the league cup city clicked and from then on its been so much better

i will add that nobody else in the top 6 have ripped it up this season and looked nail on title winners ? everybody been patchy and utd have been helped with VAR pens lifting them up to dizzy levels

but can i add how many times has pep had a full squad to pick from ? aguero jesus missing big chunks of the season
and early doors city was not playing good football ? if liverpool had kept last seasons form going i don't think city would be in with a chance this season with the start we had ?

one big plus is the defence and stones and Dias. pep style of play needs strong centre backs because we leave the door open and teams can hit us on the break ? but also the team plays better knowing the defence is ok

Proven left foot. And a bit more than just a defender - he can whip out a fifty yard pass across the pitch for which Stevie Starfish would have sold The Kop!

Couldn’t get to see the game last night. Have recorded MOTD to watch teatime. Another solid performance and clean sheet. Quietly going about our business. All good stuff.
