Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

Agree. Bad day but plenty games and 5 points are easy to make up.
Provided Chelsea agree to drop them. They don’t look like dropping many. We looked like a team of pussies today. Got bullied all over the park. The lack of pace and a forward is killing us. That bench today had nothing to change the game. That’s also a worry.

Apologies if mentioned previously

No striker.
No plan B.
Mahrez awful.
Sterling the invisible Man.

But the most galling thing, if that was prime rags from 1992 to 2013, the opposition's penalty area would've been BOMBARDED. From the moment Jesus' effort was ruled out, I can't remember a single effort. PATHETIC.

We got away without a CF, last season. Lightening doesn't strike twice. Get a CF, and if possible, a plan B.

Early days, still, but chavs' lead in the table looks ominous

It's not the shooting that is the issue, it's the supply of QUALITY balls in to players in a shooting position.

Can't agree. Think of that ball into Rodri, second half. He's got clear daylight around him, keeper's out of position. He skied it. I know full well that he's not a forward, but he should at least be making the keeper work. Excellent ball in from Phil, Jesus mistimes his jump and puts it well over the bar. The number of shots where the keeper doesn't have to work is truly astonishing, from a team at or near the top of the table.

We were promised further investment, we let Aguero go (but to be honest that was a good decision, he spends most of his seasons on the injury bench these days at great financial cost), but City have to get someone in to put the ball in the net. Pep might like experimenting, but unless we get a World class goal poacher this year we will end up like the Old Trafford chumps in Salford.

Deserved nothing. Got nothing.

Predictably shite performance from flat foot Laporte as soon as he's under pressure. A very average defender who doesn't deserve to be in the same squad as Stones and Dias.

Ederson.... what a disaster. So, so poor. The offside one on one 'goal' showed just how bad he can be. He's living off the back of a big kick, and lucky to be in the first eleven imo - Steffen looks far more reliable.

A bad day at the office - shit happens every now and then. Play like that next week however, and heads should roll.

Awful first half

Tried our best to no availe second.

If proof were neede Mariner hates us it was today the ****

Looks like we won’t be making a title challenge this year. Something is seriously wrong, and it needs sorting quickly or we will drop out of top 4 very soon.
We have made weird recruitment decisions for the last 3/4 windows and it's costing us dear.

It took us a long time to replace Kompany, we have never addressed LB, we knew Kun was finished 2 years ago etc

Grealish was not the player we needed for me, far more important priorities.

Fern a legend but is taking up a valuable place and contributing little ON the pitch and we have an ageing midfield.

We have no control in midfield, and I never thought I'd say that about a Pep side.

KDB is just a mess at the moment, can barely get the ball under control and Bernardo just doesn't create or control with the ball - he's amazing in big games when we need to press and defend, but he simply doesn't put his foot on the ball and control possession like David Silva, like Gundogan - like Foden when he plays there.

We've got a 3 man midfield and the only person taking the ball and looking for a pass is Rodri.

If Mahrez put in more energy in his performances he would be in ahead of Kdb at the moment! I feel Kdb needs a rest

I feel like Grealish looks scared of using the talent he has. So many times he gets face-to-face with two defenders and then just passes it to Cancelo or someone. Obviously you want to keep possession sometimes, but I'd like to see him running at people a bit more.
Totally agree but hes definitely told to do that and be patient unfortunately, which not only doesnt suit jack, but also suits a team like palace who are happy to park 2 busses. Wish pep tells them to run at them and try win a pen

It came to him quickly and it was slightly behind him. The reason he skied it is because he had to force his shot to generate any power. A better pass and he buries that shot.

I think I‘m on my own on this one, but how about we buy a striker in January? You know, somebody who could get on the end of our 200 crosses each game? Nah, sorry, stupid idea. My apologies. Let’s buy another small creative midfielder instead… that’ll fix it.
