Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

I get what you mean, we need something different, more energy, against teams good enough to low block for a whole match and as pep always says the same players can’t play week in week out. For that reason I think - hope - the loss to West Ham will prove to be a blessing. Let’s see what next Saturday brings.

the midweek game is bigger than the derby
pep should play more of the quality youth players we have at home vs games like palace just to fresh it up and rest the big players. we just look so leggy and dare i say slow and KDB is not the player he has been for 4 or 5 years

its a puzzle to what is wrong with KDB ? is it a injury problem that is taking a long time to get over or is it just burn out and got nothing in the tank. what i will say is we have B.silva gundogan foden all good enough for KDB to take a break of a couple of weeks and lets see what that does for him

Please stop starting Grealish. He offers fuck all
At the moment i have to agree but hope he proves me wrong. If we had lost Bernardo in the summer for Grealish I would have been devastated. Fingers crossed Grealish is just taking time to settle just like others in the past.

Not good enough that.

We can’t just rely on Rodri and Bernardo to play well and win the game for us every week… Cancelo Laporte deBruyne Grealish Foden we’re simply nowhere near good enough, and the same ones who played against Burnley were all just as bad that day (Grealish didn’t play that one but has also been average as it gets in other games).

These midtable teams are far too good now to play so poorly and expect to win. We got away with it with Burnley but we were just as poor against them as we were Southampton and today.
We might have lost against Burnley had Cornet stayed on. They were causing us trouble on the break until Dyche wrongly hooked him.

That's what I can't get my head around.
Jesus, Rodri and Bernardo have really picked up their game from last season yet there are others who have gone the opposite way.

Things looked even worse a year ago, but went well towards the end. Chelsea are much better now though. Think that we are out of the league cup is a blessing in disguise this year, then the CL group stage is soon over. Many players look knackered and need to recover properly.

With that said, it’s frustrating to see games like Southampton, Palace and West Ham panning out like they do with the pressing, parked buses and time-wasting. Not to mention the small share of shots that actually goes on goal for us and the few that are required for the opposition.

Feels like we have too many similar types of players up front and that we need one or two that are in a different mould and can change a game.

long left but the warning signs are there

Not a fan from THIS CERTAIN framing, but Viera „outcoached“ Pep
Palace played it smart. At 1-0 up and City down to 10 men they didn't change their plan. They stayed disciplined, defensively well organised and refused to allow themselves to commit more players forward. City had no space and created virtually nothing even though we had more of the ball - they let us have it in areas where we couldn't hurt them. Vieira and his team did a number on us today.

Not at the races today. Individual mistakes and the lack of a clinical player cost us the points.

Get the boss a decent forward and the 15 chances created per game will be more than enough to win the majority of games. We did brilliantly last year to win 2 trophies but this season it’s looking like a season too much for the false 9.

We are stacked in wingers but no forwards. Sell 2 and buy 2 forwards to get us back to taking teams apart. The squad has hard working players in abundance but no player to score which is the hardest part. I will be disappointed if we do not get a forward in January. A loan would do until the summer.

Viera clearly targeted him and Laporte today
Every team knows we are wide open down our left hand side. It’s a simple as that. That needs fixing just as much as a striker issue IMHO.
Zinny, Cancelo and Ake are all bang-average at best!
