Pep knows exactly how they will play - as many behind the ball as possible and Zaha on the break. That's the only threat. If Pep let's them them do us in the way they easily did Liverpool several times last week, there'll be a groundful of moaning minnies. Hopefully, his plan A will work and get us in front, as thumping Palace is long overdue.
I think we'll be far too good for them going forward, and like I have in the last few games against them, I'm going for a win - we can't slip up against them again, can we?
4-1 for City, and that will be a great return from the 1st 4 games, if we can get it.
1-0 will do

Tuesday 23/08.
Palace should definitely prioritise the League Cup over our game. Play a full strength side today.

If they did that they have a good chance of winning silverware for their fans.

No ulterior motive. ;-)

If we play the inverted full backs ‘thang’ again, well, Zaha will eat that up - all day long,
and if Foden persists ignoring Haaland - if he plays - we'll loose or draw - hate to say it.

Gallagher was there main guy last season and the reason they beat us at home. Zaha will always play to get defenders a yellow/red so if we keep our heads where he is concerned, then I have no other concerns.

City 2-0 Palace

They rode their luck at Anfield but did create a couple of great opportunities on the counter. Both Zaha and Eze are looking very sharp.

We'll need to score at least 3 as they usually score with every shot against us.

Got a bad feeling about this one, again the sort of team we'll find hard to contain on the break and they will punish us.

Team wise I'd go: Ederson, Cancelo, Dias, Stones, Gomez, Phillips, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Foden, Gundogan, Haaland

So you have picked a team and also have a bad feeling about the result.

Perhaps you need to change your team :-)

Against the sides with pace on the counter maybe one FB should move into midfield at a time rather than both, but I’m certainly not going to criticise Pep. Everyone said it was a genius move when it worked against West Ham.

All they have is the counter attack. We really need to score early to take pressure off.

I just hope we don’t try a too high line as Liverpool did v Utd otherwise it could be a long day.

An observation from Newcastle is that we might be bit of an in between side this season. When the game becomes open, as it did, then certain players (de Bruyne, Foden, Haaland) are in their element and want to go to the sound of the trumpet, yet Gundogan and Bernardo are not as equipped for that. Other teams will try and stretch the game, Palace included, in a similar way, so we need to be better aware of what is unfolding and learn to apply the brake. Once we slow it down we can dictate the tempo and impose ourselves.

I know it's a cliche but we must score early. Last season their goalkeeper must have wasted 15 minutes taking goal kicks. That was getting the fans frustrated and transferring itself to the players. It also didn't help that we went a goal behind after 10 mins and laporte got sent off but my point is they managed to get under City's skin with their time-wasting

Need to be less polite to fast forwards. Bring the bastards down a mile from the box with a Fernesque nudge, friendly smile and a gentlemanly hand up to avoid getting booked.

Overall City PL matches under Scott: W4-D1-L0

The only draw was Jan 2020 on Pep's birthday, home against... Palace:

90th minute unlucky own goal by Fernandinho
after a textbook counter via Zaha over our right side,
Cancelo standing too high,
Stones too slow to block the cross.
Would be nice if we fuckin don't play to THEIR strengths but to ours...
