Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

This'll get your blood boiling. The VAR Assistant for the FA Cup was Darren Cann who played for Crystal Palace as a youth player. The VAR official was Jarred Gillet is a self confessed Liverpool fan and works for the Liverpool FA...make of that what you will.

I was brassed off for all of 20 mins. We were powder puff in the final 3rd. Let's hope we get it right tomorrow and react well.
What I simply cannot get my head round is how the ref or VAR did not send Henderson off

I'm at a loss to understand why they (PGMOL) put themselves in this position time and time again.

Wait, Darren Cann was VAR assistant for the final. Ex Palace youth player and somebody who had previously been taking off their games during his career?

That is ludicrous! Was there nobody else?!

And it will happen again and again and again. Something was not right with the decision, if that happened at the other end straight red I believe.

We need an official explanation imo.
You won't get one, just a regurgitation of what's been said. My main issue is that the ref didn't see it. The ref should therefore be sent to the screen. He should make the decision not some twat in a box with no accountability. Any other game than a cup final that's a straight red. This business of the ball going away from goal is crap. It's a made up excuse not to give a red card.

If I was Pep I would have pulled the whole team off after that disgraceful non decision

It is a classic case of reffing the occasion rather than applying the rules of the game. I am sure that refs are told that, if there is an early incident that could "ruin" the game then they should look at plausible ways to "protect the spectacle".
Compare the Henderson incident with the handball awarded against Grealish two years previously.
Henderson's was completely intentional and prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity but was not punished.
Grealish's was inadvertent, did not disadvantage United, but was punished with a penalty.

It's ridiculous isn't it! I'd wish they'd just pit stop going on about it, It's getting tyre some, He needs to realise we were in pole position up until we conceded that goal, Unfortunately it was Palace who ended up on the podium...

Ok I'll stop now! Just trying to cheer myself up...
Sòunds like you're flagging....
