There have been enough games in the premier league this season to show me that possession counts for absolutely nothing any more. Players are such explosive athletes that a possession based team can and will be punished easier than ever before. Pep isn’t learning/adjusting and it is killing us.

It's patience coupled with possession. We used to have that in spades. We also had a lighting fast full back.
Now we have no fullbacks
Regardless Marmoush should have converted the penalty and Akanji is not a fullback.
Our problem has actually been a player loosing possession with either a bad pass, or hail Mary shot.
As a club we have sat back and just let the rest catch up.
We need to win the next two games. Without CL, our recruitment options will change. Is Wirtz going to chose Europa over CL football?

Honestly, think a complete change of manager and coaching staff is needed as Pep does not know how to fix this shit.
The club gave him 150 million in January and what a waste that has been, on top of other dreadful recent windows.

In a nutshell:
We have keepers who rarely make saves other team keepers make and one wants out.
Woeful pathetic defending, not helped by not playing a LB at LB and RB at RB. Defending is panicky every time a team runs at us.
Midfield and wingers are one of the worse sets in the PL.
And 1 bullied striker who has lost his bottle.

48 shots at goal in our last 2 games and no goals sums us up. A squad full of players who just cannot score.
28 Corners also and nothing from them.

The fact Pep seems ok with who ever is stealing a living on the coaching and set piece staff sums up how we are happy and too comfortable With how things have regressed.

The game is now youth, pace, energy and forward attacking play, we are looking obsolete with our soccer aid level of pace and fitness sideway passing

Yep. We were far more effective when walker would make the outside runs even just as a decoy as it brought a player away and created space inside but pep moved heavily towards inverting full backs and meant walker was more on the ball and it didn't really benefit us as much. Nunes has shown in glimpses at how effective an overlapping fullback can be and its what we did a lot prior to pep as well

Inverted fullbacks are great if the players are good enough at passing to basically be like extra midfielders. Lewis and Stones can do it. Walker and Akanji can't.

Congratulations to Crystal Palace, their 1st ever major trophy, can't begrudge them that.

I actually don't think we were that bad, probably the better side but horrendous finishing cost us again. A better side from previous years probably would have created more chances though.

Now for the big one, VAR. It won't help but PGMOL owe the club a massive apology. As far as I'm concerned VAR should no longer exist after that game. It should have been 70mins against 10 men.
The decision to not send Henderson off has cost us a trophy today.

It's the worst decision in the history of VAR and Jared Gillett should be sacked.

Feel like shit in an already horrible week mentally personally. Lacked desire in that second half though we din't play too bad but fuck all matters in a final. Savinhos attitude at a throw in about 15 mins from the end was despicable. Pep should have put in someone for Akanji, he is as pointless as anyone in the team. Always at fault and always slowing down attacks he has no business being in. Haaland needs to lau down on the ego as well.
