Crystal Palace PL (H) Post match thread

Was Bernado not fouled in the run up to the penalty? Looked like he was pulled back from where I was sat.

We are soft as shit in the final stages of the game. Clear to see this season.

Mentality questionable.

Tiredness and fatigue? Should subs be coming in 20/15 mins from time? Maybe. But we don't have enough quality on the bench.

Feels we've fallen a long way from last season.

the only way is down from last season sadly

If you don't understand the concept of a post-match thread then it might be your head that needs a wobble.
It's not about the treble last season, the domestic treble in 2019 or 100 points in 2018. - We threw away two points today, and the match was played today.
Don't be condescending mate I’ve been going to City for over fifty years. You need to get a bit of perspective you can't win them all and before you say it we've not been great for the last month or so. Give Pep a bit of slack or is that beyond you. Stop being entitled.

If you’re saying the season is over, you haven’t learned a thing.
And if you're saying we're definitely going to challenge for the Premier League title then you're not watching City properly.

I'm still hopeful that we'll compete for the European Cup, as over a 2 legged game, it'll take a fantastic team to beat us. But, I just don’t see that desire to win consistently enough to win another Premier league title.

Firstly we will still win the title, with KDB back and Stones hopefully coming back into the team we will look completely different.

Personally I would shake things up slightly, which Pep is known to do.

For me I’d throw Ortega in goal for a period of time. I feel he deserves it and is a better shot stopper than Ederson.

Walker has to be rested at rb - he’s like a square peg in a round hole with the way we are currently playing. He needs to be a defensive rb and form part of a 3 at the back when we are attacking.
I’d throw Rico in again and let him do what he did so well last season.

Stones to play instead of Dias - I love Dias but he’s in poor form. He adds nothing to the build up and is rash when defending atm.

Bernardo for me is wasted as a rw, he got the ball so many times today in threatening positions but just didn’t have the final killer ball or shot. Fodens naivety with the pen proves he should be RW where he is much more of a threat. Get Bernardo back at cm and see our control improve immeasurably.

I’d also start Nunes - he has a huge amount of energy and adds something different. Replace with KDB when back fit.

But the main thing is getting a shape the players are comfortable with. Playing more form players and then building a couple up for the business end of the season.

Ortega
Rico
Stones
Akanji
Ake
Rodri
Bernardo
Nunes
Foden
Grealish
Haaland.

Onwards and upwards. We have been fairly shite all season but are in touching distance. When we click like we do every march onwards when it’s game over for the others.

Who tf are you?

I'm assuming a rags fan as I've no idea why a City fan would be digging out one of today's goal scorers (who's actually scored three goals in his last three PL games) for this result. Because that's just ridiculous. If your girlfriend wants to shag Grealish, feel sorry for her that it'll never happen and she's stuck with you, but give a swerve to the stupid football takes.
Idiot.

Drop Ederson for what exactly?!

Do people really expect him to leave the goal wide open and just assume that the cross is going to go through Dias's legs, and Ake won't be in a better position?!

C'mon, people... The defense has left him out to dry more than ever this season.

We spent 145m on our midfield, and 80m on a defender. People talking about penny pinching and tight purses need to wise up.
We spent on players and two of them will not push the other players for a place. That’s the problem, particularly after winning everything last year.

Overall a good match. We should've sealed the match way before. Palace were toothless thanks tou our good pressing and good possesion game. People here will cry and say pure doom and gloom, but the fact is we conceded 2 chances, and Palace never had dangerous counterattacks.

Our problem is the defense's confidence. They lose añl the individual duels, they get late to all the chañlenges and they run towards their goal as scared children. Once they gain their confidence back, we will be fine.
It's not helped that our attack take about 30 shots at goal to score 1!!!
If we were putting our chances away, the defensive issue wouldn't seem quite so bad.

It is frustrating in the extreme. City have won only one of our last 6 league matches and this from a team which was expected to stroll to a fourth title on the run. We can still win it but it will certainly be no stroll. We are favourites for the champions league!! But in our last 6 PL games we have come back to beat Luton but have conceded goals in stoppage time in 3 and a late goal in another which have cost us 8 points. It is hard to excuse such slackness against top four rivals but when the latest beneficiary from our generosity is a team which has taken the grand total of 5 points from its last 8 games it beggars belief. Especially when that team was 2-0 down with 18 minutes to play (stoppage time included). City no longer seem to manage games so much as hope for the best. It is not too late for us to put a title winning run together but time is running out, and I think we need to change our attitude immediately. In support of my claim that attitude may be the problem I claim that on Wednesday it was the young lads who impressed and the more senior players who had questions to answer.
Wednesday was one of the first games this season I really enjoyed. Aggressive and fluent. Attacking! Today was a real slog!

Which two? 3 of the 4 have been almost regulars, when available.
