All it tells me is that the Palace board is rather dull and unimaginative but they have been in terrible form and probably just wanted to bring a 'safe' pair of hands in to keep them up this season before looking elsewhere next. Not sure what his colour has to do with it.

Personally I wouldn't have gone for Hodgson but I can see why they decided to act when they did.

He was rightly interested in a player already showing skill and raw talent, but was put off because he wasn’t “physical enough” for the Prem at a young age. There’s no logic in it. Does Copers Cope training ground not have a gym?

Not every player in the league is Adebayo Akinfenwa anyway, even now Erling isn’t and he shouldn’t be.

In that same season, Haaland would have offered more than Jordan Ayew did, but after three seasons? Four? He would have paid back that fee to the club more than ten times over.

Hodgson and Palace needed players for that moment so his argument was correct.
