i'm afraid he's dead serious. They're out of the title race and have this chance to make another CL final so why not field a weakened team for Sunday ?

They're not yet out of the title race. If they beat Liverpool then Liverpool may well crumble and lose against Palace.
He will be expecting us to drop points probably at either Palace or Everton (or both). There is also still the chance that
they could finish 5th. Remote maybe but he can't put all his eggs in the winning the CL basket.

If he had Cech, Terry, Hazard and Eto'o available I reckon he would go for the league as well but now I doubt it very much.

Chelsea absolutely have to win at Anfield, a draw is no good, whilst in the Champions League he is 90 mins away from being in the final and anything goes in a final.

Let's try and get 3 points ourselves first. We play a Palace-side full of confidence while we are not flowing and without Silva (and maybe Toure).
As for Chelsea, if I was them I would put my money on getting in to the CL-final. Anything can happen than. They are two games away of winning the CL. Compare that to the chance they have of winning the PL. We can blame ourselves that we are in the position we depend on others and now we must hope they park the buss and play as sad a game of football as they did last night, yet getting the same result.

Not optimistic to be honest but if you want to win the League you have to win games like this. Despite Palace's excellent recent run.

If you read the tea leaves it's possible both Silva and Yaya could play. If we could get a goal or 2 up I'd trust us to keep them out - if Vinny keeps calm. Then take both off at HT.

What tea leaves are telling you that SIlva may play? My Typhoo are telling me he hasn't got a chance.

Mourinho will know, like the rest of us that Chelsea are the outsiders for the Champions League. Even if he makes it to the final it is a big big upset if Chelsea win it. But you never know. Chelsea have to concentrate and defend well at Anfield and those are two characteristics Mourinho has implemented very well in the key games. Whoever plays will follow that mantra. They can get a result at Anfield.

In terms of our game at Palace then you just can't talk about winning the league and in the same breath show concern for Palace's form. They're on a good run, which includes a win at Goodison (which we need to match) and have been strong at home. But the pressure is off and the confidence is high and that will mean they will try to match us rather than sit back. So that will work in our favour. We will create chances and just need to defend better in general. Keep concentration and make the right decisions and keep the ball well. We looked flat away at Norwich and this game is one where we cannot afford to be so lacklustre. We have plenty of attacking players available and that will tell.

I don't know whether it is because of how long I've supported City, but when we drew with Sunderland I was more confident that ever we would win the league. I don't know why. I think we just had to make things even harder for ourselves. Rather than draw at Goodison we've forced ourselves to have to win the next two away from home. Like we did in the CL I think we will do the job at hand in these away games and win both. Out of sheer logic Liverpool will drop points. They've won so many but I can't see that continue and if we beat Palace and Everton we put the pressure on them considerably. They've managed to handle what they think is pressure - but that will turn it up a notch and I think they will crumble.

Palace have won their last 5 games on the bounce, and we struggled with their "long ball, parked bus" tactics at the Etihad.

That said, if we can play at high tempo (like last night against West Brom, and not like we did against Sunderland), then we should beat them.

Long Ball tactics? Direct would be fairer...we can play nice football...ok not like Barcelona...and we do put 10 men behind the ball...but we break nicley, usally along the floor...

Our performance at the Ethiad was fantastic, and i do not know how we didnt get anything out of that game! Joe Hart was man of the match that says a few things!
I remember that's what MOTD said but you only had a few breakaways but looked very dangerous when you did break away.

City dominated possession but didn't create many opportunities

I think you did park the bus for the most part, and then looked to break with pace and numbers.

Yes, that seems the fairest evaluation!

Hopefully - because if they press more and further up the pitch it will leave more space for our midfield and strikers to work in. I am confident that our players have the technical skills and mentality to deal with this approach. Also a hard pressing game will be physically wearing on the Palace players - expect to see more and more space for us in the second half.

(Palace Fan) Soem of you seem to understand the way Palace play, but underestimate it...

We will not, especially against Man City who have the penetration they have, go forward. We will sit back, impeccably organised, deal with anything that goes in the box, and look to counter through Jerome, Bolasie, Puncheon and Chamackh or Ledley....

Also, we will not tire, I didnt think we would be able to, but we do not seem to lapse concentration, but when we do we have a great keeper to help us out in Julian Speroni...

I must know what your username stands for....I have a feeling there is something not very nice about Manchester City in there ;)

Wow, I am impressed that you realised!

Crystal Palace Football club will ******* the ****** Man City because they are simply ***

The stars do not represent swear words...and the phrase is in optimism of Sundays game, which will probably be crushed when you score in the first minute :(

Perhaps the mods could remove the poster's (a few above) phone number, for his own sake, and keep it for PMs
