CSKA Moscow v City - Post match discussion

Made hard Work of it in the end.

Should win our next two home matches.

But if MP persists with this system I also think we'll have too many bad results to win the league or progress past the group stage of the CL. Its not compact enough, too much space in midfield.
If we win the CSKA home game we will already have progressed, even a draw should see us through. After the next 2 games we should be on 12 points, the Bayern game should be a very dead rubber.

hard work of it?!
really????

twice as may goal attempts
twice as many on target
twice as many corners
the majority of posession away from home
and of course twice as many scored.....

fucking great performance with a weakened team tbf

So you were comfortable for the last 15 when everybody else was shitting bricks.

Still a bit more work to do in the group but it was a good away win. Garcia did ok despite not playing in his natural position and even though he isn't a popular player, he is still a useful squad member. Hopefully Kompany will be fit for another tough game on Sunday.

Well, on our 4 away game roll, it's 2 down 2 to go!
Manager picked a strong team tonight, hopefully all will be recovered by 4pm Sunday;
bring it on :-)

I was tbf

Sergio had chances

we had a perfectly good goal ruled out

Beast and Yaya went close

Merlin could have scored

Edin could have had a couple at the end

And a draw would have been Ok anyway but we easily deserved the win in fairness

Agreed about the chances, possession etc but we didn't kill the game off and it nearly cost us, was very nervy at the end because we couldn't keep the ball, I think that is what Jrb was getting at.

A very good result although I was surprised how poor CSKA were.
They've not scored in their last five league games. How good did you expect them to be?

they have some good players and are also agile and strong, which make it a challenging game.

Nonetheless it was one of those that if like in the derby we take our chances it's game over early and if not it ends up like that with them getting confident and having a go, but at least it didn't go the whole hog and turn into Villa.

That being said on a night like this in the week we're in fixtures wise you take the win, the 3 points, the huge confidence boost of getting Bayern out of the system with another away CL win and get on the plane home and focus on Chelsea.

It's time to end Jose's unbeaten league home record and it's time to stamp our authority on the league, one more big performance to set an example and the key players can have the week off and the squad players can travel up to Toon and fight for their chance in the first team, because that's the level of motivation Pelle needs to put into these players.

This is the week where we have to prove we mean business, we've passed the first 2 tests but the final one is arguably the toughest.

Fantastic result. Hats off to Manuel with our go for broke style. The holy Sergio Aguero, the wizard that is Silva and the big City YaYa man are a joy to watch.

Great result , but why is pellergrini persevering with garcia at centre back ? , he a liability , Micah should have played at centre back tonight , it would have been a far more comfortable night with him in defence , a natural right sided defender , quick and good in the air.

I thought Dzeko was a little unfortunate not to score at least one of those two chances

Sky pointing out that City could have conceded in the last moments, but we had more than our fair share of very good chances.

Garcia attracting criticism for not winning that header with Honda, and unfortunately for us it led to their goal, but I watched the entire game, and he won the majority of his challenges.

Critics are grasping at straws

Amen to that. We did well on a shite pitch. I would've taken a draw before the game so delighted with the result and performance. 2 wins from our home games and we're through.

Positional awareness I imagine is what the manager is thinking.

Are you on crack?

Just finished watching the recording. CSKA are not very good but, second half we did wonders for their confidence.
Think at 2 - 1 we took our foot of the pedal and we've never looked good trying to hold a lead. Just fucking go for it lads.
The 3 points more important than anything else.

No. Richards has shown at times in the past that he can lose positional awareness. If you think this is controversial, then you can't really be helped.
