Cuba

Went a couple of years ago. 3 days in Havana then a week on the beach at Varadero. Really great holiday! We stayed at the RUI hotel on Varadero and it was superb! Really recommend it. Pay for a decent hotel in Havana and you won't regret it. Forget all of the Hemmingway tourist traps they are just a rip off and you will have one great holiday!

Been to Varedero and Havana. Loved it. Remember, a Cuban 5 star is 4 star at best.

correct.

5 star hotels are for lazy fuckers anyway - people should be willing to carry their own bags and tie their own shoe laces up.

Be prepared to put up with French Canadians. The fuckers are everywhere.

They should be easy to ignore mate, they pretend they can't speak English until they want something.

Our son in law is Canadian and even he says the Canadians hate the fookers. But you are spot on with your words.

Not sure if you've ever noticed on here Oakie, but I fucking hate them with a passion and won't hold back on letting it be known. Plastic french twats.

There were quite a few in Mexico, noticed that they were quite aloof and did not mix with anyone

Thanks for all the Cuba advice

Went to Cayo Coco 4 years ago with the Mrs, I absolutely loved it -she prefers just lying by the pool for 2 weeks.

Obviosuly the downside is that you're confined to your complex at night, so I'd find yourself a nice hotel with decent entertainment on in the evenings. The part I enjoyed the most was seeing the culture on the mainland, absolutely worlds apart from what we'd know. Murals of Guevara and Catsro everywhere, searing heat and swarms of mosquitos all add to the experience if you fancy that!

The guys are right, there are a lot of Canadians there which I thought made a nice change from Germans and Russians that you see in Spain and Greece. We met a few chaps from Toronto and these guys HATE French Canadians with a passion, so stick with the 'English' Canadians and you'll be fine.

How come you were confined to the resort at night mate? Was it because there was nothing else around? You can pop into Varedero at night and mix with the locals, very deccent people from what I've seen.
