Cup Final scheme - add Wembley

Nobody has a divine right to go to the final.

One criterion is loyalty points

Another is being arsed to hang on the phone or queue for hours at the ground

If you have to book a day off work so be it. If your days off are so precious that you need to spend them doing something more important than queueing for a ticket that's a personal choice.

Fair enough if phone charges are erroneously applied then seek redress but don't come on here bitching about having to waste your time calling or waiting

I'd quite happily take a day off work to queue for a ticket but I probably won't have enough points, so I'll more than likely need to pay £400 for a ticket.

Count yourselves lucky to be in the queue

please find me one football club in the world that has a ticketing phoneline system capable of taking hundreds of calls every minute.

theres a reason they pass the work onto bigger companies.

yes their service has been poor and im sure city will be looking into it.

And as has been pointed out by others, any high demand event has these problems. You try getting tickets (from the huge ticket agents who are the most prepared for these scenarios) for U2 or something when tickets are released and the web sites crash and the phone lines get overloaded. I can understand why people are pissed off but it was always going to happen.

I'm probably missing something here. I showed up at 2pm on Thursday, no queue in sight and wandered back off 2 minutes later with tickets in hand.
You should have been there at 6.30 Saturday morning you wouldn't have missed it then you little winder upper.

Also if people could get tickets for huge events easily, nobody would talk about them, they wouldnt generate news stories and perversely, there wouldn't be the clamour to get them as quickly... so therefore...don't fix it ;-)

from what i've heard & experienced, after the initial rush thursday & friday afternoon were pretty quiet. that's probably because only the highest points holders qualified & they could spread their purchases over two days. saturday & part of sunday were extremely busy due to a 750 points drop & the corresponding increase in qualifying supporters. monday was also very busy & with category 1 & much of category 2 selling out ringpieces were starting to get twitchy. today has been exceptionally busy as all remaining cds subscribers qualified along with 3500+ points holders & even twitchier ringpieces.

Sorry but you are living in a dream world, there is no system that is perfect. I am a member of the cup scheme but qualify via points for the first day. We sit near each other but 10 of us have sat together for all the cup away games so of course wanted to do the same for the final. Luckily some of the lads were off work last week, went down on Thursday afternoon, waited 20 minutes and got the 10 tickets together.
I know that people have waited for a long time on the phone but spoke to one of my friends an hour ago who managed to get 5 tickets via the phone within 15 minutes this morning. It does seem it is the luck of the draw with the telephone.
There is no perfect system, we are not like Stoke who only have 21000 season ticket holders and some platinum club thing so they will all get a ticket. Not like us with more season ticket holders than tickets.
I think this system is better thnan the one they did for the semi final but sorry it is a true saying, you cant please all of the people all of the time.
To the original OP, it is 30 years since we were last in a final, sorry but to me taking a day off work is definitely worthwhile.

Good idea. Lets waste one of my precious days holiday off work to dedicate to the hideously complex matter of buying a ticket for a football game.

I understand your frustration but seriously, it has always been the case and probably always will be the case that for a cup final you will have to seriously put yourself out in order to get a ticket and that those who are prepared to put themselves out more are more likely to get a ticket. I don't see too many realistic ways of getting around this at the moment. Unless of course you'd prefer the way united did it for the semi where thety just had a ballot. Personally I think that would be awful but I suppose at least none of them had to get off there arses to get a ticket.

If success becomes the norm going forward then Ballots could be something that is introduced.

15000 plus will be in that cup direct scheme next year especially anyone with low points and that could mean that the cut off for finals may be as high as 5000 points(If not in the scheme) if they stick with the cup direct scheme automatically qualifying for a ticket.

Say a new Season Ticket holder decides to sit in level 2 next season and is happy to pay £700-800 for the matchday experience a nd padded seats. He has no loyalty points but someone is paying £250 for a ST but has 3500 points. Who long term is more important to the club? You can bet your money its the guy paying £800. The club may want to keep this type of fan sweet and loyalty points may become a thing of the past. Anyone who doesnt go to any cup games could well miss out in the future.

Money talks in football unfortunately and I can see big changes to eligibility for Finals in future years.

I agree. And at that point people will be crying out for the club to return to distributing tickets on the basis that you have been a loyal supporter and are prepared to queue up for hours or such like in order to get a ticket.
