Pretty sure everyone would love there to be a cure found. I don't know anyone who's lives haven't been affected by cancer. It's a terrible disease that can affect all ages and I'm positive no right minded person wouldn't want to find a cure.

But if we did find a cure what issues would that cause? We are already seeing life expectancy ages going up, meaning we have to work longer. As a country we are probably overcrowded as it is. I think there are around 150k deaths a year from cancer. A cure would obviously prevent a large majority of these.

A cure would be welcomed by everyone. But could, as with most things, something so positive be laced with negative issues.

Nope. That's about the long and short of it. Funny you should raise this actually, as Mrs P's uncle got diagnosed with it the other week and we only found out last night. We were saying how billions of pounds/dollars gets spent on other things, yet this bastard still wreaks havoc on lives. I wonder if we will ever find a cure?

I feel for anyone with the disease as it takes no prisoners

There is a lot to be said for natural selection too however, cure all these things and we'll be royally fucked

Given the choice mind I would choose a cure, we may also find a solution to poverty and hunger in parallel to this research

Quite a few cancers are curable nowadays, so I see your point about overcrowding.

Is it one in 3 statistically? Thats an extra potential 3rd of the population..

if every country with nuclear power spend the money on a cure instead of missiles it would be defeated very quickly.

This^^^^^^^ The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have so far cost the UK Taxpayer in excess of £20 billion (without soldiers wages and treatment of injury costs) yet in 2010 only £504 million was raised by Cancer research uk

In these Austerity times the uk launched £130million of missiles at Libya in ONE morning

Sorry to hear that pal. Whilst there are cures for some, the ones that don't have medication and treatments far better than they used to, so progress is being made. And like you say, if countries spent half of there military budget on finding a cure we would probably no whether there was or wasn't a cure by now.

I always assumed that cancer has ways of mutating and changing its structure etc. I'm sure I've seen that if there ever is a cure for current forms it would just mutate and take on other forms? Correct me if I'm wrong!

A true cynic would probably say its already been found, put it this way - I'm a cynic!!!

Horrible fucking thing that has wiped out a great deal of my family and friends, I'm convinced however that the pill/drugs one may need are held back!

Never be a cure more money in treatment

Although I watched a program yesterday and the doctor said since the 1950's life expectancy has increased 7 hours a week because of medical advances
