currently no trams to etihad

Now we have it.

As there was no threat to public safety, it was decided between the Police and MCFC the kick off would not be delayed.

Thank you City and GMP.

Perhaps you could have a chat with the brains at MIddlesbrough, who delayed their kick off because of transport problems on Tuesday night.

I don't know what sort of safety issues those fans were perceived to be under, but maybe, just maybe, they took the holistic approach and decided to look after their supporters, who probably pay a lot less than we do, so they could see as much of the game as possible.

Customer service I believe it is called.

Take a leaf out of their book, and stop taking us for granted.

I drove up from Worcester, it took me 2hrs... It took me 2 and half hours to get from sale to the game... Imagine being pissed, then double it

A big well done to people like you who drive from various parts of the UK for a midweek night match.

There was an accident on the M62 about 12-30. According to some reports there were no serious injuries yet it took the five and a half hours to reopen it. Why? That is an extremely busy bit of motorway and it's a disgrace to leave it closed for so long unless they were investigating a death or it needed resurfacing.
The City Council has spent the last 40 years fucking the city centre. Roads closed here, there and every fucking where for new buildings or pedestrianisation. And where does the traffic go? On a badly designed ring road with more choke points than the Boston fucking Strangler.
All over the city buildings are being built in a way that encroaches on the roads, while other roads are closed for the second city crossing and some fuck-witted bus priority scheme. Princess Street will be two way for a short length so Oxford Road can be buses and bikes only.
So where the fuck can the traffic go when the motorways are broken? No-fucking-where.
And Salford Council are even bigger twats. A new wide cycle lane on Great Clowes Street ffs. It just fucks the traffic.
The Crescent going past Salford University used to be three lanes each way but it's now one lane and a bus lane. It's hardly a surprise the whole thing grinds to a halt when just a single alternative route is closed.
Even the third-world conurbation at the western end of the East Lancs Road has had the sense to scrap most of the bus lanes as they do nothing to help traffic flow. But the anti-motoring Luddite twats in charge of transport in Manchester and Salford are only interested in their narrow agendas and couldn't give a fuck about the inconvenience they cause. Have I mentioned they are all twats? Twats the fucking lot of them.
And while we're on the subject of twats, what about Twatrolink? They keep telling us the signs used to indicate tram only sections meet all the regulations. Well in that case why the fuck do a succession of fuck-muppets keep driving onto the tracks? Are these drivers ever punished for ignoring the signs or are the signs just not clear enough? And as a mate asked last night, having walked from town; why weren't they announcing the problem so people wouldn't assume an Ashton or Etihad tram would soon arrive?
If that had been part of a degree thesis I would have awarded you a first.

As somebody else said it is a brilliant rant and typical of the black humour that we Blues love.

The foul language only added to it and certainly made me chuckle.

Every point you made is spot on and things are only going to get worse because the funds needed to change the situation are being wasted on projects such as HS2.

Take a bow Manchester Blue - teaching the dickheads on RAWK scoffing at the amount of empty seats a lesson:

I dont recall Liverpool recording a 54,000 attendance for any of there games at Anfield this season..........

Kick offs have been delayed for transport issues in the past. Would they have started without the Everton team as well? Silly comment I know but to not delay last night was disrespectful to fans of both teams and a half hour delay would have been understood by most. It may even have stopped someone rushing and causing an accident had they known.

As for transport in town I am now convinced that Manchester are trying their best to create gridlock in the city to force people out of their cars and onto unreliable public transport. I work in town and need my car for work though when I don't I cycle. I get there twice as quick over 6 miles cycling than in the car. Literally twice as quick. The Mancunian Way being closed since August is ludicrous with no sign of it ending. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but 5 months, come on. The decision to close Portland Street whilst all this traffic is diverted into town is madness and increases the conspiracy for me.

The Metrolink is pretty and gives the city a European feel but, at present, it is not fit for purpose and does not give the coverage the city needs. A circle line, alongside the M60 is desperately needed to ease congestion. Funding must be found for this immediately. This should have been done before the second city crossing which I feel is cosmetic.

Its time to ditch 7.45 ko's, move them all to 8pm. These sorts of traffic incidents happen so frequently nowadays. Many fans would still have missed all or part of the game, but there was a huge increase in the numbers in the ground between 7.50 (there are always people who are 5 mins late because they haven't finished their pint) and just after 8pm.
