currently no trams to etihad

for me, it was a nightmare set off at 4-30 from Donny went to pick 1 mate up then off to to pick another mate up. so 5 -10 then to get the m18 to connect to m1 but it was bad in maltby and took about 20 extra mins to get throu, anyway pick last mate up at dodworth and 1 mate said don't go woodhead way as we will hit traffic in Manchester, so we went holmforth way, not bad till we hit the top bloody blizzard so it took ages but we got to Manchester about 7, went to park to get a tram and someome said trams out of action and we was about 5 miles away, got back into car and parked up about 7-40 just off aston new rd. got to ground just after ko and watched that game, got back to car and had a parking ticket and it took me till 12-30 t0 get back. think that I leave night games alone from now on. if trams was running it would of got me to ground in 10-15 mins and home about 11-45. in fact FUCK NIGHT GAMES

There was an accident on the M62 about 12-30. According to some reports there were no serious injuries yet it took the five and a half hours to reopen it. Why? That is an extremely busy bit of motorway and it's a disgrace to leave it closed for so long unless they were investigating a death or it needed resurfacing.
The City Council has spent the last 40 years fucking the city centre. Roads closed here, there and every fucking where for new buildings or pedestrianisation. And where does the traffic go? On a badly designed ring road with more choke points than the Boston fucking Strangler.
All over the city buildings are being built in a way that encroaches on the roads, while other roads are closed for the second city crossing and some fuck-witted bus priority scheme. Princess Street will be two way for a short length so Oxford Road can be buses and bikes only.
So where the fuck can the traffic go when the motorways are broken? No-fucking-where.
And Salford Council are even bigger twats. A new wide cycle lane on Great Clowes Street ffs. It just fucks the traffic.
The Crescent going past Salford University used to be three lanes each way but it's now one lane and a bus lane. It's hardly a surprise the whole thing grinds to a halt when just a single alternative route is closed.
Even the third-world conurbation at the western end of the East Lancs Road has had the sense to scrap most of the bus lanes as they do nothing to help traffic flow. But the anti-motoring Luddite twats in charge of transport in Manchester and Salford are only interested in their narrow agendas and couldn't give a fuck about the inconvenience they cause. Have I mentioned they are all twats? Twats the fucking lot of them.
And while we're on the subject of twats, what about Twatrolink? They keep telling us the signs used to indicate tram only sections meet all the regulations. Well in that case why the fuck do a succession of fuck-muppets keep driving onto the tracks? Are these drivers ever punished for ignoring the signs or are the signs just not clear enough? And as a mate asked last night, having walked from town; why weren't they announcing the problem so people wouldn't assume an Ashton or Etihad tram would soon arrive?

What did SS3 look like at kick off. I couldnt believe the number of empty seats in other areas at kick off but it didn't seem that empty in SS3 as not that many people came up the steps during the game although I sit right at the side so difficult to tell. Was it just as empty?

The whole stadium was the same at kick off including the Everton end, over half empty. Gradually filled up until it was about 80% full 10 mins into second half.

At least on MOTD they did mention that the empty seats were not because they hadn't sold but because of the traffic!!

@East Level 2, apart from the language, which I fell about laughing at, I agree with you totally especially the Salford one, living in Salford. The East Lancs Rd Bus way scheme is a running joke around the city and the nightmare traffic jams are racking up more and more as weeks go on.

Even my short journey to where we pick up the Eccles coach which normally takes me 3 or 4 minutes has taken me nearer 25 minutes the last couple of night games. I've racked my brains for another way round and there isn't one........ and before people say I could walk, I can't walk that distance any more, sorry. Two years ago I would have done it in a heartbeat but as it happens I want to keep that old heart beating!!! ;-)

tremendous outburst pal...take a bow....

Seems we got lucky. Left Worksop at 5.15 and were in the stadium for about 7.15 which was actually a very good run for us. That said my sat nav did a good job re routing around traffic delays and I did the "what a wanker" thing on Motram Hill pushing in at the last minute to save a few minutes! Journey home was a bit more entertaining as I had to go via the Snake Pass in the snow however still back for 11.15. Still fucking hate night games though as my lad can't join me on 'school nights' (and looking at the empty seats in the family stand he wasn't alone)

the whole infrastructure of the country is at breaking point, roads railways, hospitals ,ect not
I may be wrong but these sort of problems don't seem to happen as frequently in London.

Probably because loads more money has been thrown at the infrastructure in and around the capital, an also because they have the underground.

If only we could have built an underground network instead of the piss poor Metrolink, not much chance of a car driving on to the track then.
we need a undergound to complement the metro ,not happening i know ,btw the traffic nightmares are not unique to manchester the whole countrys infrastructure is creaking under the pressure, too many cars ,too many people, whoops can i say that

Take a bow Manchester Blue - teaching the dickheads on RAWK scoffing at the amount of empty seats a lesson:

"Thrilling 3-3 draw at home to the league leaders... Comes on thread about another club to talk shit about attendances.

Perhaps if you ever exeperience going to a game one day you might have some sympathy for those who gave up trying to get to a game they'd paid good money for because of total gridlock around Manchester and suspension of the tram service to the ground. But you'll never get any further than the pub will you?

And I notice not one of the posters on here taking the piss was at Anfield last night and one has nearly 450,000 posts on a football forum plus a custom title that should be in Private Eye's Pseuds Corner. What an exciting life he must have.

I bet the real Liverpool fans, the ones I know who know all about the cost and effort it takes to actually go to games, are cringing at some of the plastic, keyboard warriors who have attached themselves to their club."

Mopeds are the future - been thinking about it all day. Manchester is getting busier and everyone wants to drive. In big European cities there are thousands of mopeds which cut down the number of cars.
