The death has taken place of former champion jockey and leading trainer Josh Gifford. The 70-year-old suffered a heart attack, and died in the early hours this Thursday morning.

Gifford was champion jockey four times in a career that produced 642 winners, and he enjoyed great success as a trainer notably winning the 1981 Grand National with Aldaniti.

Among his 1500 plus winners as a trainer were the likes of 1993 Queen Mother Champion Chase victor Deep Sensation, and other top chasers like dual Mackeson Gold Cup winner Bradbury Star and the Sun Alliance Chase winner Brief Gale.

RIP

The death has taken place ?

what sort of a statement is that,as though it was pre arranged
it's copied and pasted... Ask the journo

What do you mean by "the mainland" because Thurles, where it ran today is in Ireland. If Ireland is what you meant, where was the horse before?
Mainland Britain (GB) "over here", reason I didnt mention it...... horse is from Ireland (IRL) . Check out Irishracing.com .click on a horse ,you get details of all connections , here and Ireland :)

If you were told to watch for it when it comes over here than why not do that? It's not come over here yet. That's why I was confused by your post. Good luck with it.

You *have* mentioned it because it's not come over here yet ;-)

We'll all be throwing loads of money on it when in runs in the UK now and we'll all be after you if it flops!

Thats why I say look out for it, like a heads up mate, there is no such thing as a sure thing in horseracing . I will not be forcing anybody to spend there hard earned money, same way if its a short price I wont bother . Just that the fella that gave me it knows them. If I`m around and get a bell on the morning I will post it , cant guarantee I am about . You dont look at form ,you look for the fiddle;))

If the ground is still soft go for Bog Warrior as Blackstair wont like the ground.

Here are my bets for today.

4.00 Naas - Gates of Rome £20 e/w @4/1

£10 e/w treble

1.30 Muss - Ebanour @ 4/1
2.05 Muss - Kie @ 11/2
4.00 Naas - Gates of Rome @4/1
