Art dzeko running on Thursday. What you saying mark? And why will junior hate the ground good/good to soft??
I wasn't going to post this until later but I may as well now.
Now, given the stick I get on here, I won't post what I think his chances are. I'll post his story and you can make your own decision.
Art Dzeko was bought by Tim and then we (the syndicate) bought him from him, which is how we do it with Tim. Tim felt he was a bargain being an Acclamation colt which proved the case as Acclamation progeny are going for a tidy sum at the moment.
Anyway, he was a bit of a star on the gallops and was the leading fancy of last years two year olds. His debut at Musselburgh he showed some good speed, but was very green, after the line he stilll wanted to race and it took 2F to pull him up. Same story at York and it lead us to believe he wanted over a mile rather than 6F but we couldn't be sure whilst he was running so green. Duran Fentiman said after the race he felt he wasn't ready upstairs and needed to be put away for a while. Then he ran at Haydock, travelled really well until a horse came upsides and then he ran green again. The decision was made to put him away, geld him and allow him to mature.
He's wintered well, he's one of the biggest flat horses i've ever seen and there's talk of him going hurdling in a year or two.
As for tomorrow, he's a few grades above these on raw ability. He's never run at Wolverhampton or on AW (he likes cut in the ground), so there's doubts there. Tim's horses normally need a run first time out, so theres doubts there, we're not exactly sure of his optimum trip yet. He's a strange one that has lots of pace but always wants to stay on, so his first few runs are going to be learning curves. Feedback from Tim is EW chance (he's very cautious with betting advice) if he handles the surface, but that's from him, not me, for the avoidance of doubt of those wanting to pick holes.
In summary; plenty of unknowns, plenty of reasons just to take a watching brief, and also enough raw talent to win it on the bridle. He's been given a mark of 59 for running in three maidens and each time he was green and eased. I'll refrain from saying what his mark could become, but it will be much higher than 59.
Personal opinion, forecast 5/1 is too short to interest me from a betting perspective given the unknowns, but don't crucify me if he wins.
Oh - Junior, needs quick ground. It's drying out, but if its on the soft side of good, rule him out.
