I think Claire Balding is a great presenter
But yesterday it was uneasy watching her interview sheikh mohammed after the race
First question to him after Dawn Approach won was, great win did yo enjoy it
Second question was did he feel like not coming today because of he scandal
And then she was peppering him with questions abt the BHA
Very poor imo and he just ended it right there and then...

Tend to agree mate.
There are questions that need answering, and I too have a lot of time for Balding, as she knows racing inside out, but moments after winning a classic was not really the time to be asking them.
At least she stopped short of asking if the winner was doped too!

I tend to agree but i also think Claire could have given him an ear bashing over his bent yard trying to win a British classic by doping.
She could have asked him why in such a big organisation he didnt have any one watching, assisting and auditing His trainer after his last run in with the BHA over tests a year ago.
Any big company would have done this to protect their reputation.

Def needs to be questions asked mate just not 2 mins after winning a classic surely
That moment was about a great race and a very good horse, and that didnt seem to be on her mind

The guardian picked up on it.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/may/04/sheikh-mohammed-clare-balding-2000-guineas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/ma ... 00-guineas</a>

They were not showing much respect for the Classic a few weeks ago,or at least the rogue trader wasnt. He could have taken it on the chin and said He was fully behind this action,
but instead melted away into his entourage of yes men.

I never seen Coolmore supplement horses for the 1000 Guineas so Moth @ 9/1 is a interesting horse. Not saying it will win it as the race is so much of a pick em for me.

As for the Balding interview she is being a jurno and any jurno would want to have the first scoop on what Goldolphin think of what went on. As for New Approach its a good horse and they paid good money for it. I think the likes of Jim Bulger and some of the Irish trainers might see the benefit of the scandal by getting some more Goldolphin horses in there yards.

My bets for today.
2.05 Willie Wag Tail
2.35 Shirocco Star
3.10 Ladyship
3.50 Moth

All 4 in a lucky 15.

Im on Snow Queen, What a name, and Sky lantern.

Segal tipped the first two on the 29 th March.

I can see Sheikh Mo leaving British racing for good.
The Aga Khan did it many years ago, after this filly was DQd from the Oaks
British racing has all the history, but nothing else.

Hot Snap for me in the 1k

Can only think something was amiss with hot snap
It shit all over sky lantern last time out and has just finished as good as tailed off behind her.

Ground may have been a issue I thought?

Moth for the Oaks?

Its a possibility i guess
Still in the oaks and a bit of cut in the ground & 20/1 may be a good price

Moth was the one to take out of the race for sure dont know about 4/1 though.

I think it's an awful price mate, as is Dawn Approach for the Derby.
I know it was pretty impressive, but what did it beat?
It was a virtual two horse race, and Toronado ran like a drain, so I'm not sure how good the form actually is.
To be honest, they were probably the weakest Guineas fields for years.

We wont know what he's beat until the others have been tested further. Dawn is a brilliant horse and if he stays 1m4 then he will win the Derby as there is nothing as good as him. To say Toronado ran a bad race is laughable, he cruised along and was with DA until he asserted and pulled clear. I think that hes just got tired coming up the hill and in the end just beaten by a much better horse. STS supposedly beat nothing in his Guineas and look how good he went on to be, same with Frankel.

So Dawn Approach's one serious rival was beaten two furlongs out, and can't stay a mile?
How on earth can he provide a serious test over even further?
Toronado found absolutely nothing when push came to shove, and is clearly nowhere near as connections thought him to be.
Dawn Approach is clearly a very good horse, and I agree that you can only beat whatever opposition lines up against you, but I very much doubt that he is another Sea The Stars, and certainly not another Frankel.

I never said Toronado would challenge him for the derby so dont know where you've got that from and i never compared DA to STS and Frankel, i just said they all supposedly beat nothing in their 2000 guineas. You look at the horses Frankel and STS beat and none of them have gone on to do anything special so lets wait and see what DA does later in the season rather than say hes nothing special just because he won a classic by only 5 lengths and didnt demolish them like Frankel

You stated that we don't know how good DA is until his rivals are tested over further.
I stated that his only serious rival,(Toronado), didn't even stay a mile, so I can't see him getting further.
Several pundits who know far more than I do have written in the Racing Post that they don't consider this to be a vintage year, and that DA is a very good horse who has beaten some fairly average ones, which is an opinion I share.
I never said DA was 'nothing special', and to be honest I don't know why you came in to have a go anyway, given that my post was responding to someone else, because you don't seem to have a point.

The thing that puzzles me is he was beaten by a plodder at 150/1 and TWO stone below him in the ratings..

I agree though abt Dawn approach he can only beat whats put in front of him,and looks the one for the derby
But i also agree with NF and think it was utter garbage what he was up against.
