As I'm new to betting on the horses can someone explain the form guide to me.

For master of the hall his form is 116F-1.

What does the F and - mean?

F means fell.
Other letters are;
U for unseated rider
C for carried out
R for refused

I think AP has nearly the full set from his grand national rides alone.

The - separates years.
You might also see a / symbol which indicates the break between seasons.

That's only scratching the surface though; to be reading form you should be looking at whether prior runs were over fences or hurdles (national hunt), or turf and polytrack (flat racing). Then you've got the trip, going and even the direction of the course to consider.

I'm shit at posting pictures here but pm me if you want a bit more detail, once your cracked the form it's a lot of fun.

Grandouet, Spirit Son, Zarkandar and a few others that are entered will give Hurricane Fly his toughest test ever. Hes never come up against such a strong lineup before. Last years race was the strongest its been for a while but is nowhere near this years. Also cant wait to see Oscar Whiskey step up to 3m and take on Big Bucks.

I think his biggest test will come from Ireland. Thousand Stars and Unacommpanied look 2 good horses will find out a lot more when Hurricane Fly races against these before he heads to Cheltenham but Ruby has the pick of the horses for this race.

Think Big Bucks will be too strong for Oscar Whiskey over 3m this year. Its all about getting the trip and with the finish at Cheltenham you need a horse that gets 3m plus just for the run in. A little outsider for the 3m for me is Ebadiyan might have a each way chance as Big Bucks will be too short to back for myself. Was 5th last year in the Cheltenham race against Big Bucks think it might run into a place this time round.

Captain chris is a big price for me. long run is too short on current form. just got 16.5 on betfair stuck £20 on him to win. And here's hoping come the off his odds will have fallen to something around the 7/8 mark I can then lay him and bank some money what ever happens.

Lafan in the next at southwell. I've had a tip that it should win. the price looks short but i hear its a winner so I'm on.
I looked at Lafan but it looks too short at 11/10, Sunny side up at 8's looks better value imo.

Hang on a minute. " Carried Out " ??? That's one pampered horse and couple of strapping stable lads then ?
