Daniel Levy Whinging Hypocrite

oh we'll be ok, but I don't disagree with Levy that the spending as a whole is unsustainable.

That being said, we've not been top of the pile since 2014 and we need to get back there and this time, stay there for a long time. Our spending, facilities, staff, we should be a different level on the pitch to the rest.
Can't disagree with that, should never have taken our foot off the gas after 2012

He was neither whinging nor being hypocritical. He was being interviewed by the chairman of NASDAQ and didn't mention any other club. He merely gave his honest response when asked for his opinion about the current transfer market. He suggested that a club spending more than it earns is unsustainable in the long term. I don't see what's so wrong about that. He wasn't having a dig at City. It was quite clear that he was referring to the prospect of clubs getting themselves in financial difficulty - not something that City have to concern themselves with. In fact, the focus of Levy's comments on the matter was primarily Spurs, with him being keen to stress that he is only a temporary custodian of the club and that he has a responsibility to hand it over in a healthy state to whoever might succeed him.

Seems to me that you're getting yourself worked up about this for no good reason.

Considerably less than a billion, actually! But how is that relevant? It's perfectly clear, surely, that Levy was specifically talking about spending on players.

Poor owners and debt is what gets clubs into trouble pity he voted for ffp where it didnt include debt.

Debt accrued as a consequence of infrastructure investment was specifically excluded from FFP restrictions.

Do you remember when they bought Paulinho and came on here to tell us he was twice the player Fernandinho was?

Spurs have been operating on more or less a zero net spend for 6-7 years - long before construction of the stadium started. My guess is that that will continue this summer. So Levy is being perfectly straight when he claims that the stadium will not effect Spurs' transfer spend.

For what it's worth, I'm no fan of FFP and was sorry to see Spurs among those who supported it. But I don't see how the decision has "backfired", exactly. Spurs are no worse off as a consequence.

As to Walker, I'm sorry to see him go. Popular player. Incredible athlete. Has a few weaknesses in his game yet still the best right back in the PL last season. But unfortunately, for whatever reason, he fell out with Poch last season and there was no coming back from that. Good luck to him. He'll get a great reception back at the Lane......err Wembley!
You're a much bigger fan of Levy than my father in law, who is pretty royally pissed off at being made to pay a fortune to try and get to and from Wembley every other week for a year. But at least that money is making sure your owner never has to put his hand in his own pocket though, just the fans, doing things the right way.

It's not a question of "doing things the right way". Or the wrong way, for that matter. I repeat, I'm no supporter of FFP.

Arrogant. Smug. Words that in recent years have come to define Levy.

He is having a go at all big spending clubs but in particular he is mocking the increasing desperate and irrelevant Merseyside clubs (who are also Spurs' closest rivals)

No one seems to ever berate the selling clubs do they, they in fact are the ones upping the market, its the same in the housing market, we'd love to buy a house cheaper but with so many ready to gazump the seller gets greedy and ups the price...
The buyer is then accused of ruining the market by paying these inflated prices.

Its wrong in both cases.
