He is a very solid defender and fairly quick with his feet. I'm surprised Pep doesn't play him more as a defensive midfielder so we are not so dependent on Fernandinho.

Played well but he should be careful next time, other referees could awarded a penalty for his intervention.

The media will say it was clumsy challenge, soft penalty, slight contact....etc even though it was clear that Gayle dived.

Similar to Fernandinho in that he looks relatively comfortable wherever he plays. Would like to see him have a run of games in one settled position, say right-back towards the end of the season if the League is won, as it is difficulty to assess him properly otherwise.

I've criticised a bit in the past but he's been terrific for the last few games and was my MotM against Newcastle.

Think he's worth giving a few starts at RB as Walker's form has dropped off recently IMO.

Mate he pulled out of the challenge completely and made Gayle look like a clown, to the point where his team mates were telling him to shut up when he complained.

Zero attacking threat when he plays on the left.

That's the same with Delph- who never overlaps and rarely ventures into attacking moves, usually just staying back to recycle possession and stop counter attacks.

I think it's clear he's not being asked to play as an attacking, overlapping fullback.

Main problem is when he plays left back, we become like last season and Sane looks half the player we know he is. Danilo is decent, but is too one footed to play in that position as his first move always narrows the play. Not bad but oh how we miss Mendy and even Delph as a left back.

other than the worst shot you'll ever see, I thought he was excellent. A couple of really good, penetrating balls in the first half that were squandered, but then ran riot a bit in the second half, while doing a very good job defensively, bailing us out a couple of times in crucial situations. Even handled Ashley Barnes in the air pretty well.

Reckon he's a bit hamstrung by how Pep wants his fullbacks to play though as he's phenomenal on that overlap. When he gets going he's a really powerful runner and no one is staying with him, like he showed for the goal the other day and for that shot today. Would like to see him given more of a licence to stay wide and overlap his winger

if slippy g had sprayed it across the pitch like Danilo did today, there would be the biggest media wankfest you have ever seen. Quality today
