That would be awful. We’d lose Foden’s midfield skill and creativity, playing him in an unfamiliar role, and have an average journeyman as plan B?!

I was thinking this yesterday. His instinct in front of goal is amazing for a young lad and he is a brilliant finisher. I think he could be a 25 goal a season player if he played that false 9 role.

I don't think 25 a season is out of reach for him. He has 14 this season. That's with playing predominantly out left for most of the season. You would expect him to get even more game time going forward as well.

A good Euros for England would set him up nicely.

100% this...One of the best qualities Phil has is arriving into spaces from deep at just the right time, he also is probably the best one v one dribbler we have - no better sight than him slaloming past players when he has just a bit of space in front. Pep would never play him up top which is why we have seen Kev, Raheem and Bernardo do that ahead of him.
