Let Sturridge Go

We should sell Sturridge now, if he does not sign a new contract. Why take the big and obvious risk of him milking the situation and heading off in the summer for a nominal fee.

If he will not agree a contract with us, showing loyalty, let him agree a contract with some other club. I am sure they will pay him the mega money he wants even though he has proved nothing yet, could be another Michael Johnston, bundles of skill and a massive ego but no application.

We need proven players, not developing players with proven egos that over value themselves.

Ok let it rip now.

i Agree give him 2days 2 sign a contract if he doesnt offer him to other clubs.cant imagine steve ireland messing the club around like this kid.

Re: Let Sturridge Go

I think some of you are missing the point of the OP - he is saying if he isnt going to sign a contract then get some money in now rather than risk losing him for nothing.

However as he is 23 and brought up through the ranks are we entitled to some compensation if he lets his contract run out anyway?

Re: Let Sturridge Go

According to that article he hasn't been offered a new contract yet...

Which, if true, kinda makes your argument redundant..?

I think he's a quality player and if possible we should keep him.

But if he feels his chances are going to be limited with us and therefore that his future lies elsewhere, then good luck to him...

But, as I say, I'd prefer him to stay.

Re: Let Sturridge Go

Can't agree with letting Sturridge go. He loves it at City and will sign a new deal very soon. It is the clubs fault that we have not signed him up long before now and he is just holding out for a slightly better deal. With all the money we have i think an extra couple of quid for this lad will be money well spent in the long run as he could save us a fortune in future.

Ok, he is a little bit over confident but not arrogant, he is sure of his ability and knows how good he is just like most of the top players. He is the best academy player to come through IMO and that is saying something with the talent produced over the last few years.

Martin O'Neill knows a player when he sees one. He knows Studge is a Brummie and will hope to tempt him home. With Young, Agbonlahor and Studge they would have the 3 best young forwards in England.

The same goes for Johnson and Richards. Hughes will not let any of these players leave as he rates them too highly.
