Danny Sturridge

New boy in this arena but long time blue. Be gentle!

Need to put together a development plan to nurture Sturridge as he has excellent potential and should not be sold on. What message would that send to our youngsters? We may not be the richest club for ever.

We just got a few month to sew this up you know..

As for our youngsters just getting a prem contract will please them enormously, with City or otherwise.

My concern is that with all the current activity Sturridge could be a casualty of neglect.

The most talented youngsters, and their families, want more than "just a Premiership contract". Surely we want the best to want City.

Welcome, according to the City Debate show tonight Gary Owen was talking to young Daniel recently and apparently he wants to stay at City his dad and representatives are talking to City at the moment, plus City want to keep him, so Owen was confident young Daniel will sign a new contract and stay at the club.

Sven inexplicably allowed his contract to unwind, and now he can talk to anyone

I can see him leaving, not because he's not wanted

Geo was half out of the door when Hughes arrived, and Ireland nearly left as well

You are rewriting history when it comes to Sturridge, the guy had 2 major injuries, thus SGE didn't see him TRAIN let alone play until Jan last year and by all accounts was out of the job by the end of Feb, seeing out the end of the season. If Sturridge goes it will have a lot more to do with simply bad timing than anyone actually fucking up.

I expect hughes to sort this out in good time, but for me the best thing about us having money now is not that we can afford to buy the best, but that for once, we don't have to sell our best young talent to survive, as in the past.

What a luxury!

Why does it always send a shiver down my spine when I hear the word Dad mentioned in contract negotiations, did Kaka not recently prove yet again my concerns with having family involved in contract talks.

A bit of wise advice to Dads, be Dads to your lads, not agents with a percentage cut desperate to show to their sons what great negotiators they are (they're not).

Dads taking a role in negotiating for sons in football is sadly a fact of life. Agree that amateurs do not help the process.

I think he will stay. My only concern is that he is a Brummie boy and went to school in Aston, so there are ties there.
