I think it's because the players that start from round 2 are the top players and getting them playing in at least one match a night gives their matches almost like a 'main event' style game to finish the evening.

Menzies has to be the most painful player to watch. Excruciating stuff.
Edit - Jeez that was before he had a full on breakdown. Not nice to see. Hope he has a better new year.
Thought it was a really tough watch tbh. Feel for him, he was pretty much having a full on panic attack at the end. To throw the darts he did was pretty impressive by that stage.

Early rounds are always a bit of a lottery. First to 3 always throws up some surprises.I didn’t see it but stats would suggest you are correct.

He looked awesome at the Grand Prix, I thought he’d win easily too.

He was excellent in the 3rd set..... unfortunately for him, absolutely rubbish in the other 3!
