Darwin Nunez

I’ll be honest I would have liked him last season. Especially over kane.I did post this last year before anyone accuses me of being a mr hindsight.

He’s a good player and will do well I imagine for them. About the going rate for a forward these days.

However and as much as that mob will try to convince themselves and the media try to brainwash everyone he’s not anywhere near the levels of Haaland. Should not even be compared. Haaland is/will be a generational talent.
We apparently had him and Vlahovic on the radar last year. Thought they weren’t good enough for us, especially given he only scored 6 league goals last season, but they’ve come on leaps and bounds over the last 12 months. Our scouts generally get it right most of the time.

But Haaland is Haaland, and barring some serious injuries, he’ll probably be the best striker of his generation.

Smacks of this scenario.

They did the Torres sale to Chelsea a couple of hours earlier, so couldn’t cry poverty. I think Nunez will do well but you’re right, it’s a similar scenario and definitely a downgrade on Mane.

He's got a great scoring record. Might surprise a few.

I've not seen him play but he appears to be highly rated.
He is a top goal scorer moving for a gigantic fee, but like Haaland, unproven in the toughest league of all. But they are losing an absolute killer, a PL don for a knock down fee , so need something to try and replace all Mane’s goals

This. Let's be honest, Nunez might turn out to be a very decent striker and do well for them (with the way they play, any half-decent forward should score a good amount), but it'd take a pretty delusional mind to say that you're happier with him over Haaland.

Not seen enough of Nunez to have a very informed opinion, but it's a ton of money to spend on the Portuguese league top scorer. Let's not forget that Carlos Vinicius (1 goal in 9 games for Spurs) also topped that league's scoring charts not too long ago.

Not saying that Nunez is crap, at all. He's looked alright the few occasions I've seen him (despite a pretty heavy first touch) but I'm far happier with Haaland and if the media want to make out that the two are on the same level... Well, let's just see how next season goes.

We’d get ripped to shreds if we spent 85mil on a striker with one good season and they got the best young striker in the world for 50mil.
