Especially if we could have the Koulibaly cherry on top!
No chance. Too old for what he would cost and also plays on the left side of the defensive area. Alaba would cover more positions.

BingoIf we want a proper left-back to compete with Mendy, Alphonso Davies from Bayern looks a real deal. He used to be a winger but was converted into left-back because of his unbelievable pace and attacking nature. He's an absolute beast going forward. The first potentially world class Canadian.
Alaba is an upgrade on Zinchenko but stylistically he's another Zinchenko just better.
Unless Pep wants to have stylistically 2 different left-backs. One whos better in possession and the other one playing like a winger in attack.
If we buy Alaba, we have to sell Zinchenko. Or maybe Pep sees Alaba as a left centre-back.
But they wont sell him. Have to be realistic. Alaba is much better than Zinchenko. Not exactly problem to sell Zinchenko to get Alaba. And can play centre back id ask for him in sane deal.I agree on Davies but he just signed a new Bayern deal till 2025. He's going nowhere. Alaba is the sort of signing we need. Defensively sound.
I don't LB who has year left on his deal is worth £50m. £30m, £40m max. So Alaba and Bayern paying extra £10-£20m would be about right. If Alaba can be convinced to come to City, a straight Alaba / Sane swap seems like a great idea. For a player in the last year of contract don't think we'd be able to get money of Bayern as well but Alaba's probably worth it alone.
