Not buying that we were bought to distract from the UAE's human rights record. Its record is not good but it's a long way from being the worst, but the reason it's not discussed very often is not because Manchester City are owned by one of the ruling family of the UAE but that the UAE is very cosy with the governments of the UK and the US. Saudi Arabia, whose human rights record and level of freedom make the UAE seem like Norway, is rarely discussed either by the mainstream media, for the exact same reason. Meanwhile, Iran, which is a freer country than both of them, is constantly talked about. The UAE's human rights record deserves to be talked about but to tag it to a story about our club stinks of journalistic opportunism to get more readers. If David Conn has direct evidence against Sheikh Mansour, let him tell us.
