Why are we even discussing this when the game was pulled back because an Everton players was off side. It doesn't matter what Rodri did with the ball lol it was off side
I believe the game was stopped for an offside after the Rodri incident. I don't think they had conclusive images to quickly make a decision on Rodri, as they have to be sure that it hit further down his arm, so I think VAR got it right anyway.
This is the pass just before he calls offside, and he signals on offside before VAR looks at the Rodri decision, so it's not come from VAR. The player on the touchline is the one who receives the pass, and he is the one given offside. It's also on that line that Ederson takes the freekick. The ref even tells him to move it back towards City's goal as he tries to take it on the edge of the area.
The Richarlison through ball was very close, and potentially would also have been offside if it was checked. But it was maybe 15 yards further from the goal, so it definitely wasn't that one that the ref called.
