...is very poor.

John Terry must be offering to stump up the extra wages to get Cahill in asap.

I remember a few weeks after he signed and some on here were gutted that we hadn't signed him.

Some were actually saying he was World Class and was better than Kompany.

I actually asked the guy in question why and he just said that he was, no explanation at all...astounding.

Think that was solely based on:
1. him playing well in a Championship equivalent League
2. costing a huge amount of money
3. being Brazilian

I shudder at some people's opinions at times.

and yet again Neville was completely right with that playstation thing..

His positioning is disaster, he looked like an idiot on that 2nd Villa goal, he didn't know where he is, he didn't know where goal is, he didn't know where man he supposed to mark is..

complete shite of defender. and I thought he'd be good when saw him first time against rags last year.

He is much better in the middle though, has nice touch sometimes

Any of you ever really watched him? Contrary to popular belief, he's made fewer mistakes since arriving here than Vidic. For some reason the Media like to write exclusives on any mistakes he does make. Chelsea has a lot of problem with passed it players, or ones that aren't good enough. Luiz isn't one of them.

I think you'll be in the minority with that opinion (certainly amongst the non-Chelsea fans anyway. His positional sense is non-existent. Don't get me wrong; he's not a bad player, he just isn't a top drawer defender.

He was yesterday.

Yesterday was Terry's fault as much as his. Neither of them closed down whoever it was who found a mile of space in the middle. Though Luiz was more within his rights to hold position to the right because Bosingwa had moved forward. If Luiz had closed him down and left half a pitch of space to the right with no RB in there, and somebody got in there to put a cross in he'd lose either way. Terry had nothing to do and Cole was back on the left. MOTD didn't show the brilliant work he did for the rest of that game. Terry and Cole were both poor throughout.

Just watching Goals on Sunday and for Villa's second goal, he left a massive (sorry!) gap behind him for Petrov to run into. Terry couldn't cover as he was marking Bent. Talking of Terry, yet another handball by him. The guy is past it now, as are a few of that side. It's a bit like Liverpool under Shankly. They let all their good players get old together without replacing them one by one.

Only Luiz and Ivanovich are really worth keeping at this point. Terry usually puts in a good shift but yesterday he was dire. Cole is getting worse every week, Bosingwa has never been good and I don't know why Ferreria is still here. I said it earlier in this thread that we need a large overhaul and have done for a while. We've managed to sustain title challenges with the same squad for a while now, but the competition is greater and the squad can't deliver any more. AVB is just suffering for what we failed to do in the past.

We'll see how its addressed in January. Same thing happened to Ancelotti last year and we responded in panic. I hope more dead weight is shifted out and sensible replacements are brought in. I don't mind writing off this season provided we fix the problems we've had since Mourinho left. 70% possession, complete domination of a game, at home, losing 1-3. Says it all.

BTW on Luiz: I'm not deluded. I criticise Chelsea players here when its deserved and I know when we're shit, like now. I'm not a scoucer after all. But of all shit players we've currently got, I don't see why the media and opposition fans like to beat on Luiz. Is it the ridiculous hype he got last year? He's certainly not world class, but he could get there. Honestly, on a weekly basis, he's consistently our best defender by far. There isn't a lot he can do when he's got three players either out of form or lost it completely around him.

This season he's calmed his game down a lot as well. He used to have this problem of running forward too often leaving us short at the back, which Mikel wouldn't cover correctly. He doesn't do that now unless Romeu drops in. Him along with Mata and Sturridge are the players I'm least worried about.

I really rated him when Chelsea bought him, but he has been a disastrous signing

He's a very talented player, and may in time come good. I remember when Colocinni was really poor for Newcastle and now he is one of the best defenders in the Premiership.

I think he is a decent player but not a defender.

Spot on fella, never a top drawer centre half in a million years.

Defensive or central midfielder, imo.

I dont think he is that bad. One of Chelsea's better players yesterday.

However, i wouldn't want a defender like him in my team. Way too adventurous.

Dont know why they don't try him in midfield with terry and ivanovic as the centre halves

I think he's a very good footballer but he just needs a coach who can get the best out of his abilities. He needs better direction. I doubt he'd be so erratic under someone like Mancini for example.
