Well said. No knee-jerk reactions just common sense.To put into perspective how much he's had to play this season because of KDB's absence - If David plays another 77 minutes in the 2 remaining games, this will be the most he's played in a season since 2011/12 - the season he turned 25.
So it's very hard to tell if his poor form of late has been age or fatigue, or a mixture of both.
IMO performances like the derby show he can still be one of the best players on the pitch in huge games for us, and that makes me think fatigue is a bigger factor. It was only September/October when people were saying he was in some of the best form of his career.
So lets see what he's like in Preseason. Even Pep & Merlin probably don't know where he's at right now and how much a summer of rest will refresh him.
