Sorry but he needs to take a back seat next Season. Its a shame to see our once great el mago playing like a shadow of his former self.
This is not really out of the blue, I know Pep still plays him because of his ball control but you can see that he can't play consistently enough at a high level and that age is clearly getting to him.

I never even contemplated this being his last season but with the Bruno Fernandes links I think it could be and I hope he and Kompany get a good send-off. I'm pretty sure Aguero has a few more years in him, although he may say fuck it I wanna leave with my friends too lol.

Sad to see some of the comments tonight, age is catching up with him and he cant go on forever. We are on our arses in midfield at the moment and he has once more stepped up to thee plate.

To put into perspective how much he's had to play this season because of KDB's absence - If David plays another 77 minutes in the 2 remaining games, this will be the most he's played in a season since 2011/12 - the season he turned 25.

So it's very hard to tell if his poor form of late has been age or fatigue, or a mixture of both.

IMO performances like the derby show he can still be one of the best players on the pitch in huge games for us, and that makes me think fatigue is a bigger factor. It was only September/October when people were saying he was in some of the best form of his career.

So lets see what he's like in Preseason. Even Pep & Merlin probably don't know where he's at right now and how much a summer of rest will refresh him.

The Japanese season runs from February to December, so a January transfer would probably be the best of both worlds - He can rest up over the summer, see what level he is at, take part in a 10th season at City, and then in January, if he's really fallen away, he could leave then.

mate, stop with the common sense - it hurts people's brains

I think you're working on old information there.
Still rumors nothing concrete. I agree with Karen I think he would stay another year. He want another chance at the CL trophy. That's the only one missing from his impressive resume.

Besides he knows he played too much cuz kdb was injured mostly and caused his form to dip sharply at the latter part of the season. Before kdb injuries Pep said before he expect David to rest more the next season. I expect David to recapture his form next season if he gets more rest. At his age he starting to decline but he has plenty left to offer

His time here is up IMO.

A club legend and maybe even our greatest player, but he is now existing mainly on former glory and with football being such a fickle business.....that can only tarnish an incredible legacy.

He deserves to go out at the very top, hopefully this Sunday can be that.
