I would rather have him than not when he is fit,he is the most experienced one out there usually, that's invaluable in a young team
In my squad David gets plenty of games but in a fully fit and firing group he doesn't make the team I choose in the one off all or nothing game.
In reality there's nearly always one or two missing for some reason or another so it's rare that the Manager would have to make that choice.

Tough call if dinho and kev are fit,the 3 of them work so well together,i remember when it was panic stations if he was injured, now through good planning and smart buys we can always put out a good team

He, along with vinny and Kun, know more than anyone what this home straight is gonna entail... he’s been a little off the last 6/8 weeks, however, much like how he is viewed outside the club, and I’d admit by myself at one stage, he will be one of the most integral cogs in the machine between now and June (see what I did)

It’s made for his legacy to become the undoubted, undisputed, greatest to put on the shirt.... we’ve been wax lyrical about the pretenders to the throne, I’ve a sneaky feeling that the magician has a few tricks between now and the end of the season to cement what could be one of the most decorated players to grace the game... and he could do it in blue!!!

He had been used quite a lot earlier in the season with KDB injured, but sparingly since. He is notably off his best of last season, so hopefully he has had the chance to recover and recoup some of his energy for the run in.

With Silva, Fernandinho, KDB, Bernardo, Gündogen and Foden allfit And vying for places in the run in, we should be able to overcome almost any team imaginable in the midfield.

What's happened, Dave?
I'm wondering whether last years emotional strain has caught up with him. Nowhere near as alert as he was. Here's hoping there's a bit left in the tank for him to go out on a high. One of the best ever.

He should be squad player for the remainder of his contract. All players decline eventually, Iniesta started declining around at the same age.

I think the stress of last year and the baby had pneumonia the night before the dipper game and he was ok up till then, maybe football just isn't as important as it was and of course he is getting on,he has played more than was the plan because kev has been out,it's just too much

He’s not declined though, that’s the baffling thing. His form has just fallen off a cliff, he was excellent for 2/3rds of the season and then overnight just turd.

He worked his socks off to cover for kev, anyone who writes him off didn't learn last time they did it

I’m not writing him off, I love the guy. I am hoping that given we have not seen a slow, steady decline, we can expect him to be back to his best next season.

He is clearly not the David Silva of old - that dosn't make him a bad player just not as good as he was

while he continues to do a lot of things very well, the game changing moments are becoming less and less

seems to need an extra touch now and seems about half a second slower mentally - still the finest player (bar the King possibly) I've ever seen in a city shirt

The problem with players the wrong side of thirty , is when they have a few below par games they are easily written off , Merlin shouldnt be in the starting eleven at the moment because his form has dropped alarmingly , but i do believe he has another 12 months in his legs and will be a very useful squad member , i dont think we will see the dynamic , twisting and turning Merlin of old , but a steadier player who is useful for seeing games out and keeping possession. In 12-18 months i think Foden will be the ready made replacement for Merlin , which will be great timing.

I love David but I think he should not be starting at the moment. Father Time and all that. Greatest player I have ever seen play for us. I don’t want this to be ruined by playing him when he is unable to do what he has previously done.
