Think it’s a blessing in disguise that he’s not fit for Sunday. As much as we all love him, I don’t think he’s suited anymore to be playing big games like this one. We need the legs in midfield, Bernardo next to KDB would make me feel a lot more confident.

Can't believe you thought Davjd not playing would mean we'd have more legs in midfield! No more legs and a lot less guts and guile.

He's been an incredible player for City, perhaps our greatest ever player, but I struggle to see why he is starting these games when we have Foden on the bench. It should be the other way around. SIlva starts the odd game, and comes of for Foden to control games in the last half an hour.

I hope we see Foden start midweek, he immediately gave the team some legs in midfield which we’ve been lacking since the Atalanta game. If the gap to the dippers stays like this use the rest of the season to bed him, Garcia in.

The second half of last season he was slowing down and it’s continued unfortunately. I think his departure timing is right and he will still win us some games with his passing but he doesn’t look the same player to me this season but then again that could be said about a few players.

Are you allowed to say this?

You are right imo.

Merlin's wand is waning.

An inexorable decline is underway.

Dave needs to leave the Premier League while he is still one of its outstanding players.

He needs to leave City before his rightful place is on the bench; he may not achieve that.

He's being carried at the moment and we can't afford to carry him. The teams shape off the ball is falling apart when he's on the pitch. He can't run and he's no longer moving the ball quickly enough to free Sterling.

Play him against sides in the bottom half, but against top opposition he should be absolutely nowhere near the starting XI.

Think carried and nowhere the starting 11 is going a bit far. If Foden starts fair enough but if its a choice between him and Gundogan i know who I'd still rather have starting. As for getting the ball to Sterling quickly enough he did that plenty on Saturday. It's just that we're honoured if Sterling takes his man on whilst on the left these days.

You don't half exaggerate,he is still our best controller of the game,he stuck his foot in ok and assisted kev on saturdayWe are not carrying him, nobody is having a great time at the moment,he is not the problem

Here you are blindly defending Silva whilst its clear he's a problem. He shouldn't be in the team.

Yes he should,he is the experience and level headed player we need, are you saying phil or gundy can do what he does? pep doesn't put bernie there much,he is still the best option for the big games

Haha. I do admire your defence of Silva, and I broadly agree that he should be starting big games, but come on, that assist stuff is nonsense so don't try and credit him with things that didn't happen to make him look good. Fernandinho won the ball back, played it to KDB. KDB played it Silva who then attempted a pass to Aguero that was easily blocked before ricocheting twice to KDB. Giving him an assist there is stretching it ridiculously. He didn't even intend to find KDB. Was totally lucky.

Some of the people here should feel ashamed about what they are saying about David. I hope in the next few games he produces a man of the match performance which he is still capable of doing. Please remember what he has done for our club.

I'm sure there's every chance that he will produce another MotM performance but it won't change the fact that whilst he might be able to turn back time upon occasion, he can't stop the clock from ticking.

His game is deteriorating and it is perfectly reasonable for people to debate whether the point of him no longer being first choice has arrived or, it it hasn't, how far off it is. People will have differing views on that but it's a subject that can no longer be avoided.

No need for discussion the guy is going at the end of the season. Silva has tonnes of experience and still has a lot to offer. I agree he can’t do 2 games a week but very few if any can at his age.

Which are the disrespectful comments specifically?

You wouldn't be doing your usual routine of decrying any fair and balanced critique of an ageing player as disrespectful would you?
There are questions over Mendy but TBF, having watched the Sky coverage of game now, I feel Mendy had a better game than I gave him credit for at the ground. Pep keeps saying Mendy needs lots of games to get back to his best and we will have to wait to see if he is right. I am sure Mendy is capable of more.

We need more than Zin and Angelino but I wouldn't bet against Zin becoming a top LB.

Silva's departure won't be a moment too soon.[/QUOTE]
