David Silva leaves City after 10 years

It has been a privilege to have watched the Magician over the last nine years and I will miss Merlin as much as anyone.

The quality of his passes is something that you can only really appreciate when you see them live and some of his most productive have been to Leroy Sané over the last two or three seasons.

What an fantastic player David Silva has been for Manchester City.

Just think the news, whilst coming from David, should have been official from City, rather than drip feed from the shitty media we have in this country. Its not a criticism of David, just slight annoyance at City.

Dave did the interview in spain supporting a charity for domestic violence i think it was and the Mirror guy was there and got the interview,i still think we will let dave leave how he wants,in his words and low key

No problem with that, but I'd rather a City website reporter broke the story to us fans, rather than some arse from the mirror.

24 hours on we still have nothing from City, I just think its a bit odd, it wouldn't take much for a 5 minute sound bite from Pep or Txiki on the website, highlighting how great he has been (and still will be for another season), obviously there will be plenty of plaudits in 11 months time, but just a brief acknowledgement would have been nice.

He is probably our greatest ever player.

Perhaps the news wasn't totally expected ?

When he signed the extension he said then he would be going home at the end of the 2 yrs,he repeated it again not long ago,i don't know whether the OS will cover it,they are so shite these days,i can see where you are coming from

It was usually either him, Aguero or Dinho when Vinny didn't play, Kev, Raz and Eddie I think did it a few times. But there's a big difference in prestige in the English game between standing in and being full time club captain.

I'll assume since he was the 1st assistant Captain and the longest serving member of the club, he'll definitely be the captain.

Tell him we love him, we're grateful for all he's done for the club, we'll miss him like hell and we wish him all the best and it's been a privilege to watch him play in blue.

I'll have to paraphrase one journos take on Merlin coz I can't remember the quote exactly. Went something like '... he drifts into little pockets of danger, like gas...'
