Moyes tried to kick him out of one game at home to Everton. He left Rodwell going out for hot dogs before slipping in Milner for a goal.

10-men away at Hull, arguably his best performance in a City shirt. That and 3-0 Wigan at home (Sergio hat-trick) I took my lad to his first game that day for his third birthday.

Is that the one where he did a pirouette in the middle leaving 3 wigan players for dead then slipped in a perfect through ball for Aguero? Look up sublime in the dictionary and theres a gif of that move

Oh yes I remember that one now! As I watched couldn't believe it as he truly made them look like fools!

The match commentators on NBCSN were laughing in delight at that. They at least in the media appreciate Silva's genius.

Legend. Plain and simple. A joy to watch on the pitch and a class act all round. He'll be sorely missed but I'll at least be able to say I watched the great David Silva in the flesh many a time....and he's not gone yet ! ;o)

The one thing he lacks is pace but he never needed it his brain was that quick,a total privilege to have watched him this last 9yrs a genius & thats not a word to be used lightly, we have been blessed this last 9yrs blues

This is the reason I though he would play on for 2 or 3 years more; his game is based on intelligence not pace.

What an incredible 10 years it's been. He's a legend, utter class, on the pitch and off it. Maybe some of the younger players at the swamp should watch and learn.

Dave is such a classy guy he knows when the time is right to go. He’s still got something to give albeit in fewer matches than before but he’s confident that we’re in good hands with Foden.

Mate of mine, a Stokie season ticket holder, told me he was in a pub in London watching a City match, he got chatting to a guy next to him, a Fulham fan.

After about 20 minutes, this bloke turned to my mate and said: 'David Silva, what does he actually do? He's not very good, is he?'

Mate just looked at him and replied: 'Well a good friend of mine has supported City for over 40 years, a season ticket for much of that, and he reckons Silva is the best player he's ever seen at the club, so one of you is wrong, I know who my money is on!'
